Avanza is an upcoming car, basically an IMV from Toyota. While Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is a MPV from the largest car manufacturer of India. Let us compare these two cars.
Toyota has designed its Avanza with sporty and curvy look along with sharp flow lines. The nose of the car flaunts chrome finished radiator grille on which the proud logo of Toyota is been placed. The headlight cluster of the car looks sporty and posses turn indicators and multifunctional headlamps. The bumper has been exclusively designed and houses stylish looking fog lamps. The bumper is body coloured and the unique lower grille has been placed at it. The side skirts have been placed lower so that the car looks sporty. The skirts are integrated with turn indicators. The rear spoiler, door handles and the OVRMs all comes in body colour.
Maruti Suzuki has designed Ertiga based on Swift’s platform. Ertiga from its front looks like that of Ritz because of its slot like grille and belly type bonnet. Also, the bulging out headlamps reminds of Swift. Its radiator grille proudly houses the Suzuki’s emblem. But the lower part of the car is very bulky as well as wide. The bumper of this car is body coloured and hoses the fog lights. The roof from the side looks like swept back and ribbed. The OVRMs and the door handles are body coloured. The boot is not so spacious and the rear glass is tinted. The tail lamps are significantly small.
Avanza has sporty interior and have enormous space inside along with adjustable seats. The interior colour is supposed to be beige with fabric upholstery. The dashboard of Toyota Avanza comprises of the instrument panel, AC vents, storage box and audio system. The four spoke steering wheel does not have the audio controls mounted on it and it is rack and pinion type. Seat belts have been provided in all the seats to ensure safety of the passengers. The rear view mirrors can be electronically adjusted.
Suzuki Ertiga has a good seating capacity though it is not quite comfortable. Since this car has been built on Swift’s platform, the interiors comprises of all the light weighted materials. The rear seats have armrests along with cup-holders. The AC vents are mounted in the roof and so the middle seat and the rear passengers gets comfortable journey with the improved cooling system. Ertiga further sports 5 speed power gearbox, electrically adjustable mirrors with power windows, keyless entry and central door locking etc.
It is believed that Toyota Avanza is being powered by a 1.5L 4 cylinder, DOHC 16 valve with VVTi engine that produces a maximum power of 109 Ps at the rate of 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 141Nm at the rate of 4400rpm. Maruti Ertiga comes with K – series, 1.4 litre of petrol engine with a displacement of 1373 cc. It gives a maximum power of 93.7 bhp at a rate of 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 130 Nm at the rate 4000rpm.
Maruti Ertiga is doing well in the market with its features. Toyota Avanza definitely is a very impressive car. It is to be seen how the car enthusiasts receive it in India.
