The Etios is a highly popular model in India appreciated for its professionally designed body and engine efficiency. The success and popularity of the car has enabled Toyota to consider the launch in the Malaysian segment which is expected to occur soon. In Malaysia the car will not be referred to as Etios, but would be referred to with a name to suit the culture and tradition of Malaysia called Perodua Jaguh.
Perodua was formed in the year 1992, and is the second biggest auto firm in Malaysia out beating only Proton. Daihatsu motor is a subsidiary of Toyota and owns decent market shares of 35% with its joint partner Perodua. The spy images of the car have been splashed on many internet sites in the country.
This is indeed interesting piece of new for ardent Toyota fans in Malaysia, the Perodua Jaguh will have identical alloy wheel, logo and grill design as observed in the original model. At the rear, the differences are not all that visible. A majority of interiors is retained as well with just up gradations with fresh seats in front, door trim and refurbished music equipment.
In terms of engine fitments, there will be a powerful 1.5 liter petrol mill which is carried on from Indian spec Etios. The dynamic engine churns shockingly impressive efficiencies of 132Nm peak torque and highest power of 90PS which is attached five speed gearbox which runs manually.
The Perodua Jaguh for Malaysian markets is expected to be built with Cars Knocked Down (CKD) equipments from the Indian subsidiary, since the car will not be constructed in Right Hand Drive (RHD) mode, barring the model in Bidadi unit by Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM). For the Brazilian segment, the Etios is built in Left Hand Drive (LHD) mode. The engine capacities and dashboard are built to cater to the tastes of Brazilian demographic. At present the company in India aims to export Etios to Zimbabwe and South Africa is the form of CBU and the most thrilling aspect about the launch of Perodua Jaguh in Malaysia is this might be the car CKD project in the country.
Toyota has enhanced the aesthetic appeal of Etios to a whole new level; the company has introduced a new version J D to create wider choice options. This variant is released in diesel and petrol fuels. The production VX D and VX variants have been stalled. The interiors have been upgraded for consumers to experience higher level of luxuries, the dash is designed with a royal color theme of ash brown, and those who enter the car will be amazed with this unique color scheme of the dash which could be matched to a posh office atmosphere.
The seat is tailored in beige upholstery which spices the royal interior atmosphere to create a cruise like experience. The interior room is known to be pretty impressive with ample leg, knee and head room. This could be the perfect vacation car as well with a massive boot volume of 595 liters.
