Over a period of four decades, the Toyota Corolla has undergone many changes, not just in its appearance but also functionality and performance. If the renderings of the 11th generation Toyota Corolla are anything to go by, then Toyota has indeed pulled off a remarkable feat with the launch of the contemporary styled Corolla which also boasts of an extremely efficient fuel performance. Also, Toyota also introduced the sporty drive setting which is sure to entice the young, first-time buyers as Toyota prepares for the launch of the world’s best-selling economy sedan.
In early 2013, Toyota had unveiled the Furia Corolla concept car. The aggressive lines and the sharp design left everyone awestruck and few hoped that Toyota would retain the same design in the 2014 Corolla. The bold front facia and the aggressive silhouette were pleasant surprises for the industry watchers as they anticipated whether the production-version of the all-new Corolla would be as attractive or not.
After Toyota unveiled the production-version of the next-gen Corolla, it is evident that the carmaker has successfully retained the modish design cues and the all-new Corolla is breathtaking to say the least. The angular headlamps, the stylish trapezoidal grill and the front bumper featuring an aggressive air intake give the frontal section a stunning appearance. Viewing from the sides, one can see that the Corolla’s wheels are protruding outside near the edges to highlight the wheel arches. The window line is attractive while the rear window’s kink has also been retained as seen in the concept car. The rear end of the car gets a sporty feel owing the design line that runs from the boot lid right up to the C-Pillar. The rear bumper sports a standard design and the black colored air diffuser is fitted snugly at the bottom.
On the other hand, the new Hyundai Verna has been giving some tough competition to the Corolla. The Verna is been one of the top contenders in this segment for quite a long time. Hyundai cosmetically modified the Verna not long ago, but it was not well received with prospective buyers. Though the cosmetic update was not bad, but the competition was intense and thus, the new design was overlooked. However, Hyundai turned the tide in its favor with the launch of the Fluidic Verna. This one has received a good response in the market. The design of the Fluidic Verna is stunning and scores high on the aesthetics, which is an important aspect among Indian buyers.
Though the earlier Verna was disappointing to say the least when the styling was concerned, the Fluidic Verna is a complete opposite. The styling issue has been addressed in a sleek way. Since the Fluidic Verna was launched, it received around 20,000 bookings in a short span of time. There is no single section in the car’s exterior design which does not look stylish. The Fluidic Verna sports Hyundai new design hallmark at the front end which is reminiscent of the new i10. Hyundai seems to have worked on giving the car a sleek, European look.
