Toyota has attained its sales milestone of reaching 40 million corolla units globally

The Toyota corolla which has attained the top position of the world’s bestselling cars has attained a significant milestone of attaining 40 million sales units recently. This corolla has been produced in more than 15 plants across the world and accounts for every one in 5 vehicle sold in the history of Toyota.

Toyota Motor Corporation:

The TMC has announced that the cumulative sales of Toyota corolla globally has reached 40.1 million units in July this year and the corolla has been regarded as the most popular car in the world. Toyota has been regarded as the perennial car of the world owing to this achievement of Corolla.

To add more fuel to the fire, Toyota has opened up a new manufacturing plant at Takaoka dedicated completely for the manufacture of Corolla in a vision to offer region specific vehicles. Its production has also been kick started in Malaysia and Australia.

It is worth noting here that Toyota has indeed doubled up its production from 480,000 to 1.1 million vehicles in the past which again signifies the contribution of corolla to the profits and image of the Toyota Corporation.

Milestones of Corolla, TMC:

Corolla has been exported to North America since 1968 and the early sales of this wagon in North America have been the fuel for the success of Toyota at the global market. It has also helps the corporation to attain cumulative sales of 1 million units in only four month after the launch. Corolla attained the value of becoming the bestselling wagon in the world by the year 1987 and its total sales at that time amounted to 22.65 million units.

At least a million units of corolla would after been sold by Toyota every year starting from the year 2002 and in the year 2012 alone, at least 3,100 units of corolla were been sold almost every day across its destinations at 150 countries and regions.

When the chief engineer from Corolla spoke on this milestone, he said,” this car is something that has been nurtured by people all over the world and I am in deed proud to be a contributor of its foundation. At this time I am also grateful to all the people who love and own the corolla” He also added that the key for the success lies in the original concept of the car that has been developed by Tatsuo Hasegawa and the concept relies on the fact that corolla should bring happiness in people and be the reason for the well-being of people around the world.

Corolla was originally manufactured to meet the needs of commuters in Japan in the year 1960. In its vision to satisfy the needs of people to commute in their own vehicle, the first corolla was conceptualized with its guiding principles as follows – designed to meet the needs of the consumers in every market. Almost all the safety features in Corolla were optional when it first rolled out on road which was later made as an essential and standard feature to meet the demands of families.
