The Toyota Etios Cross was spotted testing on the Brazilian roads some time back. Now, the auto leader has unveiled the vehicle officially in the car market of Brazil. Very similar to the crossover model counterparts of the Volkswagen Cross Polo and the Skoda Fabia Scout, the Toyota Etios Cross is a revised and more powerful version of the hatchback Etios Liva. The Cross is equipped with stylish body claddings as well as bigger wheels in order to give it a more aggressive visual appeal.
The Toyota Etios Cross is equipped with new a body kit, larger wheels, a redesigned and more aggressively styled front and rear appearance that are decked up with plastic garnishes to provide it a muscular off roader appearance. The Japanese car major has also given the vehicle redesigned alloy wheels in order to give it such an appearance that marks the difference between the crossover variant and its regular hatchback counterpart. The other noticeable changes that are featured on the new Toyota Etios Cross that are really different from the regular car includes the Etios Cross emblem on the side panel as well as the roof racks of the vehicle that has the capacity to sustain load of up to 50 kg.
As far as the interior of the Etios Cross is concerned, it is essentially the same as the Etios Liva with the exception of new fabric upholstery and some added trims to make the cabin classier. The equipments list of the cross also remains the same as that of the standard Etios Liva hatchback.
The Etios Cross for the Brazilian car market is equipped under the hood with the same 1.5 liter petrol/gas dual fuel motor that powers the Etios TRD Sportivo model in the Indian market. However, this engine has been tweaked in order to provide more power packed on-road performance. The enhanced tweaked engine now delivers a better maximum power output of 96bhp and the peak torque of 139Nm compared against the earlier power figures of 92bhp of power and 139Nm of peak torque. The engine transfers the generated power to the front wheels of the new Etios Cross through a capable 5 speed manual transmission gearbox.
The new Toyota Etios Cross has been thus included in the C-segment of the auto market of Brazil. The Japanese car major has priced the Etios Cross at Brazilian 45,960 Real which approximately comes to 12.59 lakhs Indian Rupees. Already launched in the Brazilian car market, the new Etios Cross will be available for sale only from the 18th of this month.
As Toyota Etios Cross’ rival model Volkswagen Polo Cross has received a good response in the Indian car market, it is expected that Toyota will soon bring in the new car model to India as well, and it can be expected to arrive sometime in the year 2014. Given that the Indian car market is very fast paced and highly potential, Toyota would definitely want to make most of it by launching more new models.
