With visible signs of world’s financial markets slowly emerging out of economic crisis towards end of 2013 after a long hiatus of almost four years, Toyota like all other car makers is upbeat about a steady recovery. To emphasize its faith about growth in consumer demand across small and expensive car varieties Toyota has launched two cars this year to be followed by two more towards end of holiday season. In continuation of this upbeat trend Toyota is planning to launch few more popular brands presently being sold in international markets along with retuned variants of existing models. With growth in Asian markets interest of carmakers has perked up leading to increased competition which needs to be met by better technology.
Among the first cars to be launched by Toyota in 2014 will be the new Corolla sedan which till now has had a successful stint in India. This 11th generation Corolla variant is most likely to be launched during Feb-March 2014 with new interiors and designer exterior grille. Fitted with tech-savvy gadgets the car‘s audio and Bluetooth are more compatible with smartphones therefore offer better connectivity. The new Toyota Corolla is likely to be priced more than existing model due to rupee depreciation and inflation which has increased input costs. The car will be sold as a sedan to compete with other cars like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and even the compact SUVs including the Nissan Terrano and Renault Duster both of which are in a slightly pricier range. Its large interiors will provide better legroom and headroom thereby giving luxury and comfort of an SUV within price of a mid sized sedan to provide customers value for money. Market reports suggest that if its Rush version compact SUV car is not launched in December 2013 it is likely to bring this successful petrol model in 2014. The Toyota Rush is enjoying great sales in Indonesia where it is available as an improved version of Toyota’s subsidiary Daihatsu manufactured Terios model. While the Toyota is available in Asian, American and European markets in compact version of 4 meters and 4.41 meters, in India this car will be launched only as a compact model of 4 meters to avail of government excise tax concessions.
Toyota will be launching a new range of its highly popular Toyota Innova towards May-June 2014 as a Z range variant which can comfortably seat 7 adults. This car equipped with tech-savvy gadgets and touchscreen entertainment system, will have a diesel engine as an initial offering at a base price of 15 – 16 lakhs. The improved Innova 2014 will be available in usual 6 colors along with white which till now was not being offered in India. This will be followed by another model the Toyota Avanza also to be introduced in 2014 which will have eye catching front grille and molded bumpers with stylish reflector headlights. The Avanza will contain a 1.5 liter petrol engine which is highly fuel efficient providing 15.8 kmpl. To keep up with Toyota’s trademark of stylish interiors the Avanza will have plush upholstery combined with low emission and quick turn radius of 4.7 meters suitable for crowded roads.
