Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has reported a 12 percent increase in the total sales rates in India in the month of November, 2013. The accumulated sales in November increased by 12 percent as against the sales in the corresponding month in 2012, but the domestic car sales of TKM has actually declined as compared to last year.
The primary reason behind the good positive sales growth of Toyota India is massive increase in exports, while the sales rates in the domestic car market of India declined by around 1.4 percent with the sale of 10,208 vehicles in the month of November this year.
Toyota India also witnessed a great decline in the sales rates in the domestic car market in November as compared against October 2013. Toyota registered a healthy growth of 7 percent with the sales 13,162 vehicles during the festive month of October, while the month of November registered a decline of 18 percent in domestic sales as compared to the month of October.
While commenting on the company’s market performance, the Dy. Managing Director of Toyota Kirloskar Motor India, Sandeep Singh said that the market is continuing to be slow and the consumer sentiments are not likely get any better in the coming few months’ time.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has registered accumulated sales of 12,748 vehicles in the month of November, 2013. The Japanese car maker has exported 2,540 units of the Etios sedan in the month of November as against the export of 2,414 Etios in the month of October this year. On the other hand, the car maker managed to sell 10,208 vehicles in the domestic car market in the month of November.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has two car manufacturing plants in the country, both of which are located close to Bangalore. These two manufacturing facilities are responsible for churning out the Corolla Altis, Innova, Fortuner, Etios, Etios Liva, Camry and the newly introduced Camry Hybrid. Toyota also offers its Prius Hybrid, Prado and Land Cruiser to the Indian car consumers, however they are not manufactured or assembled in India but are brought in as completely built imported cars, and thus the ever costlier price tags.
Toyota India has recently launched the new refreshed Innova in India just prior to the festive season, while also offering the special edition models of the Etios and Liva during the festive season to boost sales. Though these new offerings did boost the company’s sales in the month of October, which was the peak celebration time in India, after the end of the festive season in the beginning of November, the sales fell again.
Toyota has also introduced the all new Camry Hybrid in this year in a bid to raise consciousness about greener cars. Compared against Toyota’s expensive and imported Prius Hybrid, the Camry hybrid is now manufactured locally in India.
Toyota hopes to boost its sales with the all new 2014 Corolla scheduled to debut at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo.
