Toyota keeps its crown of the world’s top auto maker with record sales

The world’s leading automobile manufacturer Toyota Motor has yet again proudly announced that it has successfully maintained its top position in the global car industry. Toyota has announced on 23rd of January that it has managed to sell a record 9.98 million cars in the year 2013. In the process of maintaining its global lead, Toyota has outpaced its primary rival auto companies, General Motors and Volkswagen.

The Japanese car major’s highest ever yearly sales volume came last year owning to the weak Yen value, coupled with great vigorous sales of Toyota vehicles in the car markets of US and China. This great sales volume is a proof enough to say that Toyota has sailed safely from the damaging effects of a series of vehicle recalls and has also recovered from the earthquake-tsunami disaster that hit Japan in 2011.

The Japanese car behemoth’s rival companies, namely the American auto major General Motors has come second, which announced that it managed to sell 9.71 million vehicles in the year 2013. On the other hand, the German car maker Volkswagen, who had earlier expressed its goal to overtake Toyota, came third in the automotive giants’ rat race with the sale of 9.5 million cars last year.

Toyota Motor emerged as the largest car maker of the world after breaking General Motor’s long history as the globe’s leading automaker in the year 2008. However, the company also lost the leading position 3 years later, after the massive earthquake-tsunami in Japan hampered the production of the company and the supply of the company that accounted for production loss of all the Japanese car makers.

Nevertheless, Toyota bounced back in the year 2012, as it again overthrew its American rival that has the acclaimed Chevrolet and the luxury Cadillac brands under its sleeves.

Toyota, which has many iconic cars in its product range including the decades old Camry and Corolla sedans and the hybrid pioneer model Prius, also revealed on 23rd January that the company is expecting to become the first car maker to have achieved the sales milestone of 10 million vehicles in the current year.

According to the market analysts, Toyota would have achieved the sales mark of 10 million by now, if the company did not face the major negative factors such as Japan’s quake disaster and the floods in Thailand.

However, the market experts also advice the Japanese auto giant to keep guard and advice that the company should concentrate on overall constant development and keep a stringent check on its quality to avoid further recalls.

Last year’s impressive sales have proved that Toyota has managed to win over its customers trust even after the company went through a bad phase of series of global recalls which affected its US sales.

Apart from concentrating on strict quality control, Toyota is also busy on adopting a revolutionary design language for its future cars. Toyota is working hard to churn out a heart racing styling to engage its consumers better.
