The world’s largest car maker, Toyota Motor may have great sales in the global market and top spots in most of the developed markets, but in India the Japanese giant is not a huge success. In fact, most of its cars in India are not chart topping. Toyota’s Indian presence, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) made the attempt of correcting this with the more affordable Etios sedan and the Etios Liva hatchback models. However, it is a well known fact that even these are not that much a success that the company had hoped for.
One of the greatest setbacks that prevent the Toyota cars to be bestsellers in the Indian car marker is their plain styling, which is the very same reason that is becoming a concern for the company globally. The Toyota cars are highly capable but also expensive, and at their pricing the Indian consumers wish to get something trendy and contemporary. Thus, the plain looking Etios and the not so trendy Liva are not attracting enough customers in this country.
Toyota has taken the situation seriously especially when the Indian market is getting flooded with lots of rival car. The Japanese car major is already busy developing an entirely new design language and it plans to make all its future cars much more attractive and wishes to set the global audience’s hearts racing with the new stunning cars. Something similar is planned for the next generation Etios as well.
The 2016 Toyota Etios is going to be endowed with an alluring design and this has been confirmed by the company. The CEO of Asia Pacific operations at Toyota Motor Corp, Hisayuki Inoue has revealed to the media that design is one major issue and the new version will certainly have a much improved design. He added that the plus points of the Etios range of good fuel efficiency, great durability and space have not been able to charm the young urban customers and the company studying the market to understand customer preferences and will make the design of the 2016 Etios more appealing.
The 2016 Toyota Etios is expected to come with an entirely different design language as compared against the current model. The all new Etios will be unveiled in 2015 and is expected to be offered in greater choice of model trims. Moreover, next gen Etios is also expected to spawn a new compact SUV.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor is also all geared up to launch the new Etios Cross in the Indian market that was unveiled at this year’s Auto Expo. The vehicle is expected to launch in the month of May, 2014. The Etios Cross’s official pre-launch bookings have already started across India for an amount of Rs. 50,000.
Toyota Etios Cross will be offered with 3 engine options, namely a 1.5 Liter Petrol with the max power of 90 PS, a 1.2 Liter Petrol with max power of 80 PS, and a 1.4 Liter Diesel engine that produces 68 PS of power.
