At the recently held Auto Expo 2014, Japanese automaker launched the all-new Etios Cross and also said that soon it will be releasing Etios Cross by May 2014. Also, bookings for the Etios Cross have already started.
The Etios Cross has been developed on the similar platform which is found in the Etios Liva hatch as well as an Etios entry level sedan. The Etios Cross is already launched available for sale in S. America. The amazingly new Etios Cross is likely to come with two petrol powertrain options apart from a diesel engine option. One will be a 1.2 litre petrol powertrain that will be generating a maximum power output of 79 bhp and churn a peak torque output of 104 Nm, which is certainly decent. The 1.5l petrol mill will be generating a maximum power output of 89 bhp and generate a maximum torque output of 132 Nm, which is quite impressive. The diesel powered powertrain will be getting a 1.4 litre D-4D engine which will generate a peak power output of 67 bhp revving at 3800 rpm and churn a maximum torque of 170 Nm revving at 1800 to 1900 rpm. Both the petrol as well as the diesel variants will come coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission system and will be delivering continuous and streamlined power flow, working effectively on highways as well as city roads.
The Etios Cross will also come equipped with a rear window defogger, speedometer unit along with a digital clock as well as a tachometer which is centrally mounted. At the Etios Cross’ front end, there will be McPherson strut and towards the rear, there will be torsion beam setup. The Etios Cross will also come equipped with leather encased steering, adjustable driver seat, USB Aux-In, audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, CD player with remote control, OVRMs with indicators and steering mounted audio controls.
The interiors of the Etios Cross have also been wonderfully designed. The interiors are classy and rich looking and it is not difficult to notice the stunning exterior rear view mirrors that well complement the cabin body of the pseudo-crossover. The earlier red, black interiors are replaced with ash brown fabrics which lends the car’s interiors a more relaxed and cultured feel. The instrument body does not receive a lot of changes though. The only enhancement being the inclusion of a bright blue light as well as a highly efficient 2-DIN audio system linked with the AUX- in, Bluetooth and USB connectivity to pair smartphones.
The leather encased steering wheels of the Etios Cross also gets buttons mounted for the audio system and also phone. The seat height and the headrests can be easily adjusted and this is certainly a major enhancement in the comfort department for this new crossover. The suspension system is strong and placed aptly, neither is it too hard or rigid or neither is too placid. Thus, the passengers never experience a sudden pain or shock when the wheels hit a pothole.
