The Toyota Tundra is a pickup truck which is being manufactured since May 1999. It has been hugely popular ever since. Toyota has chipped in with several facelifts over the years, with a new round of changes set to debut in 2015. It updated the Tundra’s styling last year and removed the versions which had a V6 engine. An off-road trim level called the TRD Pro was also introduced.
So what other features does the 2015 Tundra feature and how does it stack up compared to its major rivals? At every trim level, a V8 powertrain is available. Its tow ratings are also very impressive. It also has remarkably stylish interiors. The interior has a western theme. Brown leather and a wood trim interior give it a unique look, and it also has a rear window which can be fully opened. Even the sunroof can be opened. The exterior possesses silver details as well. The TRD Pro is well built for off-roading-it features skid plates, off-road tyres, Bilstein shocks and a raised suspension. This makes it a perfect combo of power, versatility and style.
However, the 2015 Toyota Tundra has its fair share of flaws, which might seriously hamper its prospects in comparison to some of its main rivals, such as the latest Detroit trucks. The fuel economy of neither V8 engine is great. The V6 engines are, as has already been mentioned, no longer available, which seriously detracts from the truck’s versatility. The Tundra’s ride quality is excellent, but it’s not without its flaws either. The Tundra appears very stiffly sprung whenever it goes over broken pavement. Lots of road noise can also be felt. This will greatly hamper its image of being a “family truck”.
The Tundra comes in 3 body styles- the two -door regular cab, the four-door extended cab and the four-door crew cab(CrewMax). Double cabs and CrewMaxes can seat five or six persons. However, the 1794 Edition is available only as a CrewMax. Other trim levels are the SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum and the TRD Pro. The availability of the options which come along with each trim level is dependent on the area of residence of the customer.
The 2015 1794 is offered with a choice of 2 V8 engines and rear wheel or four-wheel drive. A 5.7 liter V8 is standard on the 1794 trim. It generates 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque, and has a 6-speed automatic transmission gearbox. The maximum towing capacity is expected to be between 9800 and 10500 pounds. The 1794 4WD has been observed to take 6.8 seconds to go from zero to sixty-an impressive performance.
All trims have extensive safety features such as ABS, traction control and airbags, with the 1894 edition having a standard parking sensor.
And lastly, why is the 1794 version named so? Well, the ranch where the Toyota Tundra is now built was founded back in 1794!!! The Tundra in its various trims, especially the 1794, appears to be an attractive family truck which is likely to captivate customers.
