Toyota Corolla Altis versus Nissan Sunny

Nissan Sunny, manufactured at the Nissan-Renault plant in Chennai was launched in three models in late 2011, initially in petrol engine variant and then finally, the company has offered the Sunny in two diesel variants. This new car in sedan segment by Indian Auto car market Nissan has quite an exotic exterior with trendy interior. Whereas Toyota Corolla has been present in India since early 2002, as a conventional three box sedan, with A- pillar and C- pillar flow into horizontal potion along with lot of elegance.

Starting from the exteriors and the interiors of the two cars, Nissan Sunny has quite a dynamic look with larger lamps, appealing chrome grille and lower air intake. It has rear view mirrors, door handles, bumpers and mud flaps of the colour of the body and innovative trendy tail lamp cluster giving it a modern sporty look. It is also fitted with power steering, automatic climate control system, keyless entry system, power windows and driver seat adjustment, etc., along with various safety measures such as anti lock braking system, keyless entry, central locking and Electronic Brake Force Distribution Brake assist. It also has an exceptional feature of one touch door lock and unlock facility blended with remote boot opening. It is also equipped with tubeless tyres and alloy wheels for the same concern. On the other hand, Toyota Altis gives lot of space and good control over the steering wheel along with an audio system which has a front-loading six-disc changer for an entertainment concern.

Now moving on to the specifications of Nissan, it is packed with 1.5 litre, 16 valves and 4 cylinders petrol engine. It basically provides the highest power of 100 PS at the rate of 6000 RPM with the peak torque of around 134 Nm at th rate of 4000 RPM. The other two variants i.e. XV and XV are powered by 1.5 litre K9K diesel engine, with four cylinders. It gives the maximum power and peak torque of around 86 PS at the rate of 3750 RPM and 200 Nm at the rate of 2000 RPM respectively with 5-speed manual transmission and the electronic fuel injection system. It also brings up the ARAI certified average mileage of 15- 17 kmpl and 21.64 kmpl by petrol engine and diesel engine respectively. This proves that Nissan Sunny is fuel efficient whereas on the contrary to it Altis gives the mileage of around 14.53 Kmpl. The front wheel of Altis is powered by six-speed manual transmission with an 8-valve 1364cc diesel engine producing 140 PS power at the rate of 6400 RPM and maximum torque of 173 Nm at the rate of 4000 RPM. It is also quite comfortable in controlling as the steering is light and user friendly which helps in bringing the gear well.

Eventually, comparing the price shows a considerable amount of difference. The price bracket offered by Toyota Corolla Altis seems to be little higher considering the other vehicles in theme segment offering more features at similar price. While Nissan Sunny comes within an affordable price range in accordance with its features i.e. of Rs. 786471 to Rs. 893218 for both petrol and diesel variants.
