The new Toyota Corolla, was introduced with two versions, a sportier version for the North American market and for the Indian and European segment are different, the reason for the company to launch a different model is India is to highlight the different societies in two continents. In USA the majority of owners of Corolla are self reliant and in India the trend to employ drivers is common. Toyota for the European market, believes than a sophisticated and high tech model with no sporty elements is ideal.
An interesting piece of information for Toyota fans is the first ever European version of Corolla is being constructed. The company has started its production operations at the reputed Sakarya Turkey factory. Corolla when first launched was garnished in classy white polish and was highly appreciated by company officials of Turkey and Japan.
About more than 85% of Corolla manufactured was exported to attractive car markets in Central Asia, Middle East, African and Europe. The company rolled out whooping investments of 150 million Euro for the car, and interestingly only for production segment. The thrilling aspect is the employment opportunities were massive leading to 900 jobs. The yearly production for the new Corolla is expected to hit 150,000 models by next year. Corolla fans in India will have to wait till the mid of 2014 to await the car and will be launched in petrol and diesel engine options.
The 2014 Corolla Altis for the Indian market is expected to arrive with an exclusive style statement. The car was unveiled during the prestigious Detroit Motor Show held in Jan; the refreshed model is designed to cater to the young population. With respect to styling the front appears deep seated, there are trimmed headlamps on both sides of grille, there is a large dimensioned grille with black insertions positioned below. The head lights posses an artistic angular design with LED fitments and fog lamps stacked vertically.
For the Indian model, there have been slight modifications in styling and the company aims to introduce chrome decorations. The wheelbase is expected to have a larger dimension of 2700mm which is 100mm lengthier than present model, and is also identical to Honda Civic. The increase in length has resulted in a lengthier 75mm rear.
The car will be fitted with 1.4 and 1.8 liter diesel and petrol mills respectively, the same engines will be incorporated in the Indian model. The 1.8 petrol mill is inserted with VVTi engine technology, with varied exhaust and intake values which aids in higher performance and power. The gear and engine fitments are designed for higher efficiency; there is a CVT automatic gearbox as well which is expected to be similar to the present model. The 1.4 liter diesel power train is inserted with variable geometry turbo technology that is present on the recent Altis model.
The interiors are expected to arrive with posh fitments of touch screen display, starter button for engine, new console, hooded binnacle, climate control and so on for an ideal urban city atmosphere.
