The new 2013 Toyota RAV4 XLE road test

The Toyota RAV4 XLE with the all wheel drive option is a very competent, performing and smooth car even on the roughest of roads. Once you board this car, it will not only give you an instant feeling of comfort but also give you a sense of controlling the rough roads, if you are driving this excellent vehicle.

The Toyota 2013 RAV4 is powered by a standard 2.5 liter 4 cylinder motor, which churns out a rather sober and efficient maximum power of 176 horsepower. Thus, if you are looking for a zipping vehicle to race across the highways and give you a high adrenaline rush, then you better look somewhere else other than the RAV4. However, in case you are looking for a steady, sturdy and fuel efficient car, then certainly give a look at the 2013 Toyota RAV4.

Nevertheless, the 2013 Toyota RAV4 is not at all a fancy mind blowing vehicle with the latest engine technology. It is not powered by the so called innovative direct injection or the turbocharged engines that are highly in vogue. It is also not a hybrid car and doesn’t have the latest features such as the start/stop function. Moreover, the 2013 model doesn’t have the V-6 option either, which was dropped by Toyota for an enhanced fuel economy; and as the Japanese car maker also said that it was not very popular either.
Thus, with so many lacks and being rather old school, one naturally has low expectations from it, and so did we. However, to our pleasant surprise, we found the RAV4 to be a perfect companion for rough and long road trip.

The vehicle has greatly comfortable seats and also offers a tight and smooth handling. To make things better the 2013 Toyota RAV4 is not a noisy vehicle and offers ample amount of space in its classy cabin. Moreover, it looks stunning from the outside making its owner proud about possessing it.

It has few drawbacks when it comes to the other interior features, such as an ancient monochrome LCD gauge and old fashioned multimedia system with a rather dim touch-screen. However the car makes up for all these with a great driving experience and a smooth and comfortable long drive even on the rough roads.

The all 4 wheel drive 2013 RAV4 has a rating of 22 mpg on the city roads, 29 mpg on the stretches of highway and 25 mpg on a combined riving condition. In our road test we drove mostly on highways along with small drives on urban roads and we achieved the average fuel economy at 27.3 mpg, keeping true to the ratings.

The new Toyota RAV4 has a fuel economy rating that is similar to its rivals in its own class and pricing, but none of this stunning crossover’s rivals provide an all 4 wheel drive option.

The new 2013 Toyota RAV4 is an overall good looking, decently quick compact crossover that offers a great comfortable drive along with superb mileage despite its shortcomings.
