Toyota Kirloskar Motor might not be able to handle the market slowdown in India and is still affected by dipped sales, but the company is very high spirited and optimistic, something which is always related to Toyota. Toyota has recently launched the all new Camry Hybrid in India, but owing to its high premium price tag, this new green car is not expected to be turning the company’s fortunes overnight. Thus, in order to handle the market slowdown in a better way, Toyota Kirloskar has decided to concentrate on its exports more for time being.
According to the reports, the Dy. Managing Director at Toyota Kirloskar Motor India, Mr. Sandeep Singh, has confirmed the fact that the Toyota Etios will be exported to Bangladesh car market. The capable Toyota Etios sedan was recently launched in the Nepali car market in the month of August, while it is also exported to the other international car markets of Zimbabwe and South Africa.
In the current gloomy situation of the Indian auto industry, many large scale global auto makers including Toyota have been forced to change their strategies, as the market slowdown is further affected by the general economic instability in India and the plunging rupee. Toyota similar to many other car makers operating in India, including the market leaders Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai are focusing on increased exports, while desperately seeking to source auto components locally.
Apart from the exports of the Etios in the Bangladesh car market, Toyota is also expected to export this quality sedan in small numbers to market of Indonesia. According to the company sources, Toyota will start the export of the Etios to Indonesia in a few months time. Moreover, the Toyota Etios hatchback that is called the Etios Valco, is also being produced in the company’s Karawang manufacturing facility, in West Java. Toyota wanted to introduce the Etios sedan there, but as sedans are really poor sellers in the market and are not the choice of private buyers, the project was rightly shelved. However, as an initial operation the Toyota Etios sedan will be showcased to the fleet operators as an alternative sedan of the Vios sedan that is manufactured in Thailand and is also supplied on a limited basis.
The India made Toyota Etios sedan is powered by a 1.5 liter petrol motor that delivers a maximum power of 90PS. The Etios’s Diesel variant powered by a 1.4 liter diesel motor is there for export market, but most likely it will not debut in the Indonesian car market, as it is a purely petrol centric market.
As for the Bangladesh market, the official Toyota cars distributor in the country, Navana Limited has already started teasing the Yaris sedan (known as Vios in the international car markets) pictures on its website as well as Facebook page. The launch of the Toyota Yaris in Bangladesh is yet not announced, but the car enthusiasts of the country are expecting the car to arrive in a few weeks’ time.
