The automobile industry worldwide has witnessed increased competition as several new international players have forayed into the scene, plus the competition between the existing players has increased manifold. Japanese automaker Toyota has tasted a lot of success in the automobile market in the last few years with its unique powerful engines on wheels.
Toyota has a worldwide presence with its vehicles in almost every segment including, cars and minivans, trucks, SUVs and crossovers, hybrids and electric vehicles. The company is one of the largest producers of Hybrid and electric cars and is also working on the hydrogen fuel cell vehicles currently. Let’s see some of the cars from Toyota that helped the company to grab its share in the Indian automobile market.
Toyota Innova
Recently, Toyota launched the 2013 Innova facelift MPV in India. The new facelift is available in Z, VX and GX trim variants. Except for the top spec trim, all the other trims will be coming in either 7 seat or 8 seat configuration. The MPV is available with BS III and BS IV 4 cylinder diesel turbocharged engines which can give a maximum output of 102 PS at 3600 rpm. The Innova has been known for its convenience and comfort and is provided with a number of advanced technological features that makes it stand out amongst others.
Toyota Corolla
Toyota has also tasted much success with the Corolla line. Since, the Corolla has performed consistently and is one of the best selling vehicles. Currently, Corolla Altis is sold in the market in both diesel as well as petrol variant. The car is a perfect example of efficiency that offers the best-in-class mileage and thus, is quite popular.
Toyota Etios
The launch of the Etios marked a new beginning for Toyota in India as it forayed into the below 7 lakh price mass volume category in India. Toyota Kirloskar aimed at selling 70,000 units of the stunning Etios per year in India and also aimed at expanding its dealership network across India in 150 by 2010 year end.
This sedan was originally labeled as the EFC (Entry Family Car). The Etios stands for Principle and Spirit which Toyota intended to present to Indian customers. For the Etios, 2000 plus engineers from Japan and India worked with each other for nearly four years to bring a lethal blend of unparalleled stringent quality standards and local design and styling sensibilities as seen in the Etios.
Toyota Etios Liva
Toyota also recently launched the new editions of Etios Liva. The ‘Xclusive’ edition of the Etios Liva is currently grabbing good sales numbers. The Xclusive edition is designed on the mid-sped G version platform of the Liva and Etios. The most striking difference is that the new version features two-tone beige and cream interiors as opposed to the G trim’s mono-color cabin.
Apart from the above mentioned, there is also Fortuner, Prius, LC Prado and Land Cruiser. Indeed, Toyota continues to explore the Indian markets with its cutting edge designs and technologies.
