Toyota has launched a new model of its flagship model, Innova. This MUV has already taken over a number its competition in this segment and it has a completely different position and image in the Indian car market. The Innova is one of the best selling MUVs present in India.
The new model of Innova has some new changes in the styling. The front end is more shiny now. It has a new front grille and a bumper. Both of them has a lot of chrome. Apart from that there is a new pair of headlamps. While the side profile of the new Toyota Innova is almost the same, the only new additions which has been done are the new graphics and the chrome side moulding. The outside rear view mirrors are incorporated with the side turn indicators. The rear end of the new Toyota Innova now has a chrome garnished stripe on the tail gate with Innova embossed on it. There are also extra reflectors provided at the rear and it also has a sporty roof spoiler. It seems that the new model of the Innova is highly inspired by the Toyota Fortuner as it also shows of the overuse of chrome. Toyota has completely dipped the Innova in a massive tank of chrome & kept it there for some time to allow the chrome to stick itself anywhere it likes. Then they took it out and there you are! A brand new Innova!
The new Innova has two engine packs, a petrol and a diesel. The petrol engine is a 2.0 litre inline engine which generates a max power of 131 bhp at 5600 rpm and a peak torque of 181 Nm at 4000 rpm. The diesel engine powering the new Innova is a 2.5 litre 16V 2KD-FTV engine which churns out a 100 bhp of max power at 3600 rpm and 200 Nm of peak torque at 1200 to 3600 rpm. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and there is no option available for an automatic transmission even in the top most model. Toyota has done a great job in refining both the engines and the low-end torque enables the new Innova to provide a great companion both in the city traffic and on the highways.
Talking about the interiors of the car, well, there is no argument to be done regarding the space it provides. There is more than enough space inside the cabin to get you and your pet elephants fit in easily. The high end model has dual tone upholstery, wooden finish on the gear knob and door trims, a brand new touch screen input system, reverse camera, etc. The steering has mounted buttons which performs various functions.
Overall, the new Innova is more of a car which has been added a touch of improvement to revive it in the changing world. It looks attractive and modern and has all the features (and even more) of the previous Innova. The price range starts from around Rs 9.5 lac and goes up to Rs 15 lac for the top end model. I’d say that it is still one of the best MUVs currently available in India.
