Toyota is a Japanese auto maker who leads the car manufacturing business over the entire world. It is one of the oldest and largest car manufacturers. Toyota Kirloskar India manages the sales of the products in India.
It has been in the news lately that Toyota is planning to bring in the Toyota Rush in India. Toyota Rush is currently being sold in the international market as a successful product. Toyota might also reveal the Toyota Rush in the Auto Expo 2014 which is likely to be held in the month of February in New Delhi. The international version of the Toyota Rush has two wheel base options. It is powered by a 1.5 litre 4 cylinder petrol engine which is capable to produce a maximum power of 109 PS and the peak torque achieved is 141 Nm. The Toyota Rush has an option of choosing a manual or an automatic transmission. The manual transmission is a 5 speed transmission system while the automatic transmission is a 4 speed transmission system.
The styling of the Toyota Rush is somewhat similar to the Toyota Fortuner. While the Toyota Fortuner is selling in good numbers in the Indian car market, the car market for compact SUVs is going through a blooming phase. So, it is being anticipated that Toyota would reduce the wheel base of the Toyota Rush for the Indian market in order to achieve an under 4 metre length platform and get the Toyota Rush in the compact SUV segment rather than a SUV segment.
The Toyota Rush, if launched in India, would be getting its power from two engine options: a 1.5 litre petrol engine and a 1.4 litre D 4D turbo diesel engine. These are the engines which are currently powering the Toyota Etios (sedan) and Toyota Etios Liva (hatchback). Currently, Toyota has a good established sales figure in India and among its top sellers are the Toyota Fortuner and Toyota Innova. If Toyota did launch the Toyota Rush in India then it might be a car which would boost the sales of the company. But since the market competition in the compact SUV segment is running very tight, Toyota will have to think of a good strategy to make the Toyota Rush a success. Moreover, this segment is currently witnessing a tough cat fight among the competitors which are the Renault Duster, the Ford EcoSport and the Nissan Terrano.
There has been no details about the price range at which Toyota would launch the Toyota Rush in India neither the dates for the launching have been released. But by looking the ‘Rush’ which is at the Toyota’s offices, it will not take long when the Toyota will launch the Rush in India. Since the Toyota Rush will be a compact SUV so the expected price ranges at which it would hit the Indian shores is Rs 7 to 8 lacs. These are all just the expectations, the original figures and model details will be known when Toyota will launch it and let us hope that would not take long enough.
