Toyota has worked hard to make the Prius more efficient, powerful and affordable across its three generation models.

And the Japanese auto major is promising something even greater for its fourth generation model that is expected to be unveiled in the next year.

The Toyota officials has revealed to the media at this year’s Automotive World, a technical conference, that the company has created the next-gen model of the Prius hybrid in such a way that the car will be a vanguard of design as well as technology.
The all new Prius will be a lot more efficient and powerful. Part of the overall advancements will include this compact vehicle to come along with a more compact and much lighter electric motor, which will also be more powerful and more efficient. This light and more vigorous motor will enhance the overall power and on-road performance of the new Prius.
The chief of Toyota’s Research and Development division, Soichiro Okudaira said that the next-generation Prius will be bestowed with an all new hybrid system by the company. The company will reportedly make it even more compact, lighter and yet more affordable. All these together will definitely strengthen the Prius’ overall value and in turn its commercial magnetism.
However, the company has still not decided about the usage of lighter lithium ion batteries replacing the heavier nickel-metal once that has been in use since the first generation Prius from 1997.
The GM of for Toyota’s battery research wing, Hideki Iba told the media that the company is looking to use the lithium ion battery in for Prius, but is yet not sure.
Another very important aspect of the next-gen Prius is its design language. Toyota is very keen make it come with a revolutionary design change both on the outside as well as inside.
Toyota had already revealed earlier that the next-gen Prius hybrid will be developed based on the company’s latest Global Architecture. This new platform will have a stronger and lighter structure. Toyota has also promised much enhanced riding and handling dynamics for the car.
The all new Prius is thus set to be an all new winner with killer looks and performance.
