The car market in India has expanded so much that the battle is pretty intense in cross segment as well. Toyota Etios Cross is the latest talk of the town, the due date for cars launch is May this year, and bookings for the car are open. The car was on display at the prestigious 2014 Auto Expo. It is interesting to own a car different form the other usual ones, and Etios Cross looks trendy and sporty, now let’s see how it fares against Maruti Suzuki Sx4 S Cross.
The distinctive feature of Etios Cross is the silver body cladding at the bottom, and the other interesting features are newly structured fog lamp apparatus, fifteen inch ten spoke alloy wheel, rear spoiler, front bumper guard and large roof bars. The insides are sprinkled with comfort and luxury, with chrome decorations on dashboard, professional black seat upholstery, and adjustable headrests. The car will move on potent diesel D4D 1.4 liter engine that will churn 69PS and petrol 1.5 liter engine that will pump out 90PS. The exact price structure of the car is not yet revealed, but sources state that it is expected to be in the Rs 6 to 6.5 lakh range. Besides Suzuki SX4 S Cross, the other arch rivals of Etios Cross are Fiat Punto Adventure Crossover and Volkswagen Cross Polo.
The Suzuki S Cross was also showcased at 2014 Auto Expo and this is a different Cross make from Etios Cross. The Cross identity is highlighted from the 1.6 liter Fiar multi jet engine, and few identities of Maruti Suzuki’s ancient creation Grand Vitara. The car was earlier on display at Geneva Motor Show and the same model was showcased at 2014 auto expo.
The car is equipped with potent petrol 1.6 liter engine that will release 156Nm and 120 PS. The diesel car will move on 1.6 liter capacity derived from Fiat Multi jet technology. The Indian spec car will be sold in all four wheel drive mode and is attached to six speed gearbox. The interior room is luxuriously spacious with decent amounts of head and leg room.
Sx4 Crossover according to Maruti Suzuki, is to bring in a whole new wave of car genres, and is a source of excitement for consumers. An interesting piece of information to note for those who are keen to buy the car is, S Cross which was recently showcased at 2014 Auto expo, was given 5 star ratings by Euro NCAP safety regulatory body. Maruti Suzuki has not yet revealed information on price details, but the launch will not happen immediately.
Etios Cross and Suzuki S Cross are two unique Crosses, and both are equally desirable models. The Cross distinctiveness is more pronounced in Etios Cross with neat silver cladding. These are fun times for those who are keen to explore new avenues in car design. Driving both cars is a medium of heaps of comfort and excitement.
Those who are keen to buy the Etios Cross can book their car now, before the actual launch date in May to grab the earliest piece. The wait for Suzuki S Cross is still on, let’s hope the car launches at the earliest.
