America’s No. 1 family car is the Toyota Camry

Though North America was once regarded as world’s largest carmaking nation with iconic makers like General Motors, Ford, and others, it is ironic that Japanese carmaker Toyota’s Camry has been ranked as most popular car model in 2014 in United States on basis of sales. Its traditional rival Honda Accord recorded sales of 32682 units as its petrol powered vehicles witnessed slowdown of 2.4 percent during April 2014. Toyota’s latest Camry which is also sold in a hybrid plug in model witnessed spurt in demand due to rising fuel prices pushing sales to 38009 units therefore signifying growth of 19.9 percent. While the previous model of Camry was popular the latest model is so popular that Toyota is unable to keep up with demand even though one Camry is being made every 65 seconds.
