Toyota Kirloskar Motor will soon launch the new Corolla few days from now; the new piece is the eleventh gen model. Corolla has ruled the world for over forty years, and the brand image of the car is still alive. Indian’s are thrilled about the new Corolla and certainly can’t wait to grab the earliest product, evident with the phenomenal 1,300 pre-launch bookings. The car was displayed in grand style at 2014 Auto Expo.
The mechanical fitments are the same as the earlier car; the only addition is an upgraded CVT from Lexus. The petrol model moves on robust Dual VVT-i 1.8 litre four cylinder engine that produces 173Nm and 140PS. It is attached to CVT or six speed manual gearbox. The diesel car run on an efficient four cylinder 1.4 litre mill that yields 205Nm and 88.4PS, and is coupled with six speed manual gearbox.
Customers can choose from an array of variants, there are five petrol versions such as GL MT, VLAT, G MT, JS MT and G AT. All the cars are stacked with adequate safety in the form of passenger and driver airbags, EBD and ABS. The highly loaded models are VL AT and GLMT, and are packed with amazing additional features like premium leather upholstery, 7 inch display with reverse camera, keyless entry with push start button, auto wipers, fog lights and LED headlights. The extra features on VL AT car are navigation and cruise control.
The diesel car versions are GL, JS, G and J, all have auto climate control, EBD, ABS, driver and passenger airbag. The most loaded GL car has 7 inch display with reverse camera, high quality leather seats, keyless entry with starter button and extra LED headlights.
What is most exciting about new Corolla is it is a better looking car than its predecessor. Car buffs who have test driven the car were stunned with its upmarket look. The front design is classy and bold contributed by the creatively styled silky grille and large swept in headlights. The high-end petrol and diesel variants of the car have LED fitted headlights. Toyota has used bits of chrome in many places to make the car looks amazingly elegant and stylish. The front bumper has neat cuts and fog lights sparkle to the core. The side section of the car looks pretty urbane as well.
As magnificent as the exteriors are the interiors, it looks picturesque, everything is picture perfect the cushions, dashboard and plastic material. Car enthusiasts who went on a test drive were amazed beyond words. The surprise package is 7 inch touchscreen on centre of dashboard that has world class music system with USB, Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The base petrol car has 5.8 inch touchscreen. The other interesting features are cubby holes, lamp and rain sensing wipers. Customers can hope for heavenly comfort with reclining seats and arm rests.
The new Corolla Altis is packed with safety with brake assist, electronic brake force distribution and anti lock brake system. All cars have airbags in driver and passenger compartment. The car has received an exemplary five star rating by reputed Euro NCAP regulatory body.
The new Corolla is a great package to own and is not surprising to learn that 1,300 models are pre-booked.
