The all-new 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis will launch in India this week. Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has confirmed about this to a popular auto portal through email. The 11th generation model of the iconic Toyota sedan was first unveiled in India at the 2014 Auto Expo, when the company also opened bookings for the car. Till date, TKM has got 1,300 bookings among which equal amounts of booking has gone for both the petrol as well as diesel versions.
The 2014 Corolla Altis will be available in both petrol and diesel version in the Indian car market. The new-gen model has carried over the same engine range from the previous model, though Toyota has stiffened the car’s suspension in order to offer better ride experience. The noise and vibration levels are also expected to be improved for a better refined drive.
The petrol version of the new 2014 Corolla will be powered by a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder petrol mill with Dual VVT-i technology. The engine is capable of churning out a good 140 PS of max power at 6,400 rpm and it is mated to a 6 speed manual transmission gearbox along with an option of a 7 speed stepped CVT automatic gearbox as well.
On the other hand, the diesel avatar of the new Corolla is powered by a 1.4 liter 4 cylinder diesel engine. This engine has the capacity to produce a max power of 88.4 PS at 3,800 rpm, and is coupled with a 6 speed manual gearbox only with no automatic transmission option.
The new 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis has become little longer and a bit lower as well, attaining a leaner and meaner stance. The longer length also naturally transforms into better interior space and enhanced legroom. The new model measures 4,620 mm long, 1,776 mm wide and 1,475 mm high along with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm.
It has been already out officially that the all new 2014 Corolla will be offered in the Indian car market in total 9 model trims out of which five are petrol and four are diesel variants.
The new generation Corolla has adorned itself with a bold and much stylish front face compared to its predecessor. It looks sleeker and sharper owing to bold character lines, sharp bumper design and large stylized headlights. Top-end models of the new sedan will get loaded with great features such as LED headlamps, LED taillights, push button start, a infotainment system with integrated navigation with 7.1 inch large touch screen, rear reclining seats, reverse camera with parking sensors, leather seats, rain sensing automatic wipers and 16 inch alloy wheels.
The Corolla brand was introduced in India in 2003, and since, Toyota has sold over 88,000 units of the sedan in the country. Apart from launching the new Corolla, Toyota has also introduced the Etios Cross in India this year.
