The Toyota Etios Cross looks all ready to tap the popular SUV segment of India

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has recently launched the latest member of the Etios family in the form of the good looking Etios Cross. The Etios Cross with its SUV-like demeanor and aggressive face surly looks all ready to charm the Indian SUV lovers and make an impression on the very popular SUV segment in India. The new car is the best looking and most interesting among all the Etios range cars, but is ultimately the same vehicle once all the SUV-like body work is taken away.

In short, the Etios Cross is nothing more than the very same Liva hatchback, but these two look so different. Actually, Toyota has not entirely changed the whole exterior design of the Liva to transform it into the Etios Cross, but incorporated some smart changes. And these changes are enough to actually transform the car into something really good looking and unique. The rather dull Liva and the attractively and vibrant Etios Cross seems to be the difference between Clark and Superman. Thus, the Etios Cross is essentially the same car as the Liva, but more colorful and charismatic.

Toyota had first displayed the Etios Cross at the 12th edition of Auto Expo this year, followed which it was launched in the Indian car market on 7th of May. The vehicle is offered in four different options.

The entire range of the Etios Cross starts at Rs. 5.76 lakh for the base variant G that is powered by the 1.2 liter petrol engine producing the max power of 79bhp. The second base GD model trim is priced at Rs. 6.90 lakh, which is powered by the 1.4 liter diesel mill churning out a max power of a 67bhp. The higher V variant comes powered by the more potent 1.5 liter petrol engine that produces 89bhp of power and is tagged at Rs. 7.35 lakh. And the top of the range VD diesel model trim is priced at Rs. 7.40 lakh with all the additional bells and whistles.

The magic of the Etios Cross’ new look primarily involves the incorporation of the pseudo SUV features, these include full plastic body cladding in matte black and silver that makes the car look bulky with increased dimensions, aluminum finished bash plates and a spoiler.

The front fascia of the car is made highly aggressive with a stylish and broad silver grille. The skid plates, silver roof rails, body colored ORVMs and the 10 spoke diamond cut alloy wheels add to the overall bold looks. The large 15 inch diamond cut alloy wheels also increase the ground clearance by 4mm, though the same wheelbase is retained. The vehicle features front ventilated discs and drum brakes for the rear.

The new Toyota Etios Cross has launched in 8 vibrant color choices including the bright orange and blue shades. The Etios Cross is an overall solid vehicle that looks great, hope it will receive the kind of success that the bland but very capable Liva could not.
