The global auto majors are always on their toes created some stunning vehicle or the other and when it comes to compact SUVs, then it is all the more important. The compact sports utility vehicles are really in vogue, as the global car buyers love the luxury, space, dominating road presence of a SUV within the compact body of a city savvy car.
Following the example of the rival car makers, the world’s most selling auto manufacturer Toyota Motor also plans to build a brand new compact SUV which will be based on the company’s new production procedure known as the Toyota New Generation Architecture or TNGA. Toyota seems to be specially eyeing to rival the new Honda cars, as these models are recently offering tough competition to some of the bestselling Toyota vehicles. The new Honda Vezel compact SUV has created a huge wave of interest and appreciation, and Toyota’s new TNGA based compact SUV will be rivaling the same. Toyota compact SUV will also get competition from the new Hyundai ix25 and the Nissan Juke compact SUVs.
The first car to be based on the company’s TNGA platform is the new generation Prius Hybrid. Toyota is currently concentrating on a more engaging design and very peppy drive dynamics to please the style conscious modern global car buyers. The TNGA platform is meant to serve this criterion exactly. All new cars from the house of Toyota aim to have ‘Waku Doki’ design language, which means heart racing styling in Japanese. So both the new Prius as well as the new compact SUV are expected to be styled in a very alluring manner.
The new Toyota compact SUV will be a successor to the Urban Cruiser and will be positioned below the popular Toyota RAV4. The concept design of the new Toyota crossover is expected to be revealed in 2015 and the production model is expected to hit the market sometime in 2016. As this compact crossover is just being planned right now, no more details are available. Toyota has a heritage of making great SUVs and also sells the premium SUV segment topping Fortuner in India. As, the compact SUVs are really popular in India, the new Toyota crossover is surely expected over here, however nothing can be told at this point of time.
If the new Toyota SUV does make it to India, then it will be put in the segment as the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the upcoming Hyundai ix25. Toyota would really do a wise thing by introducing a quality and stylish compact SUV in India considering the profitability of this segment. Moreover, as Toyota’s Etios and Liva have not become very popular in India, a hit new SUV would really do the trick for Toyota in increasing its sales.
Considering that Toyota utility vehicles such as the Fortuner SUV and Innova MPV are both segment leaders in India, the new TNGA based compact SUV should also be a blockbuster in India, if it launches here.
