Japanese carmaker Toyota has stated tests of its latest Grand Turismo 86 in Nürburgring since it is scheduled for launch in 2015. In keeping with Toyota’s trend for updating this sports car on a regular basis there is always a buzz around this model from enthusiasts about latest changes made on it. This rear wheel drive front engine based Toyota model now has fiber panels on its hood like rear spoiler and front splitters on some cars. From the pictures available on online resources it is obvious that it has been inspired by Gazoo Racing, Toyota’s retuned racecar therefore has a more aerodynamic body with features to improve speed and efficiency. Rear side of the car has attractive tail lights with DRL’s and twin cylindrical exhausts on black underbody cladding.
The visible changes to latest Toyota GT 86 include redesigned air splitter in front along with carbon fiber bonnet to keep overall weight low and racing wheels to improve speed. To increase aerodynamics the car’s boot has a spoiler on its lip along with large rear wing. Toyota has designed this model’s roof and boot lid with carbon fiber similar to Subaru BRZ tS which has been designed for racing purposes. Since no details have been provided by Toyota about the new GT 86’s engine power it is expected that it will retain 2.0 liter four cylinder mechanism which has output of 197 hp followed by 151 lb-ft torque which helps this speedster to accelerate from 0-100 within 7 seconds.
Toyota will fit the new GT86 with new coil based suspension kit and mono block brake caliper with brake pads which are ideal for racing. Front profile of the car is uniquely designed with wing shaped headlamps comprising both DRL’s and projector lamp. The bumper is wide with hexagonal air dam covering and angular fog lamps on either side with DRL and regular lamps. This speedster is a twin seater with body colored ORVMS and door handles and not much details are available about its interiors. On its fiber covered hood there are two rectangular shaped air inlets to keep its engine cool. To improve its handling and management Toyota has provided it with better damping and friction management technology by stiffening rear shock absorbers.
Besides existing exterior colors available for GT86, Honda is also providing two new colors of white and silver. As Toyota had recently announced a new version of GT 86 with hardtop and new additions like carbon fiber dashboard and shark-fin antenna we believe this model spied on Nürburgring will be latest version of 2016 Scion FR-S GT 86. Being a special sports car Toyota is likely to launch this model as a special edition and will make only limited numbers on demand. Since the carmaker has a tendency to keep racing enthusiasts guessing about power and output of its models it has not leaked any information about these details and only spy pictures of the model have appeared which gives viewers little idea about its interiors or capacity.
