Japanese car major, Toyota is known for its great quality and safe cars all over the world and is greatly favored for the same. The Toyota HiLux pickup is one among the many such hugely popular and high quality vehicles that come from the home of this Japanese car major. Once again proving the great capabilities and safety aspects of this globally famed pickup truck, the Australian New Car Assessment Program or ANCAP has praised the new Toyota HiLux pickup for the vehicle’s outstanding performance in the safety test rounds that it conducted on it recently.
The Toyota HiLux has been always getting the highest ratings in the safety tests conducted on it, and the vehicle maintains its maximum 5 star rating in its new avatar as well. However, the new Toyota HiLux pickup has taken the yardstick even higher this time, as it not only gets the best safety measures, but has also enhanced its standards for the safety of the pedestrians, making it an all round safe vehicle not only for its occupants but also for the other road users.
As per the safety tests, the previous Toyota HiLux pickup model though acquired the highest 5 star rating for its safety standards, for the dual-cab 4WD specs the vehicle got ‘poor’ rating for the pedestrian safety measures. Being a respected global car maker, Toyota worked on this quickly and that is very evident in the new HiLux model. The ANCAP has rated the new HiLux as ‘good’, which is the highest rating that any model can achieve.
After the recent safety aspects assessment, the Toyota HiLux has become the first commercial vehicle which has been ever able to get the rating of ‘good’ by the ANCAP for the pedestrian safety aspect.
The overall safety rating of the HiLux has also improved, proving that it is now even tougher and safer than before. While the previous model of the Toyota HiLux pickup scored of 32.86 out of the maximum 37 points, the new HiLux model has now scored 34.45 despite the fact that the current testing procedure has become ever tougher than before.
The CEO of ANCAP, Nicholas Clarke said that the Toyota HiLux was always an important model for the private as well as fleet sales as it is one of the top selling models in Australia and New Zealand.
He added by saying that road accident fatalities are high in Australia, and as a result more organizations are now adopting a 5 star fleet policy. This means that Australia will witness a significant increase in the 5-star vehicles on the roads, which will help in reducing the road crash fatalities by a considerable rate.
ANCAP is expecting a one-third reduction in the total number of the fatalities and injuries caused by road accidents in Australians by the year 2020 as against the number of 2001, when there were no 5 star rated vehicles in the Australian roads.
The all new 2016 Toyota HiLux will hit the showrooms in Australia this week.
