Next-generation Toyota Innova MPV to debut at 2015 Jakarta Auto Show; spec details

Following a recent report from an Indonesian car website, another report has claimed that the all new Toyota Innova MPV will be unveiled next month. As per the latest report, Japanese car major Toyota is going to hold the much awaited world premiere of the next generation model of its very popular MPV, Innova at the upcoming 2015 Jakarta Auto Show on 23rd November this year.

The all new Toyota Innova model is a highly awaited launch from the Japanese auto giant. The next generation Toyota Innova MPV has been highly preferred in the Indian car market, and is the segment ruler here. The new model will be all braced up to fight it much better with its newer market rivals, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Honda Mobilio MPV.

Even though the next generation Toyota Innova makes its world premiere at the 2015 Jakarta Auto Show next month, it will only be unveiled in India next year. The all new model of the very successful MPV is expected to be unveiled in India at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo, which will be held in the month of February next year, following which the official launch should happen soon. The new-gen Innova launch is very important for Toyota India, as it is the company’s bestselling model in the country.

The new-gen Innova will be packing the newly developed 2.4 liter as well as 2.8 liter engines from Toyota’s new GD diesel engine family. Both the engines are empowered with the technologies of variable geometric turbocharger as well as economy with superior thermal efficient combustion, in order to offer better performance and fuel economy. While the 2.4 liter diesel mill delivers a top power of 160 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque, the 2.8 liter oil burner pumps out 177 bhp of power and 450 Nm of torque. Both the engines come with the transmission choices of a 6 speed manual gearbox and an automatic gearbox.

The next generation Innova will be offering better overall performance as well as safety owing to its new International multi-purpose vehicle platform. This all-new platform is responsible for making the MPV lighter, rigid and more stable as compared to the ongoing model. The next-gen model of the Innova shares some of design cues with the new generation Toyota Fortuner premium SUV which launched earlier this year.

The all new Toyota Innova gets a total design revamp and flaunts new stylish sweptback headlights with projector lamps, a new front two slat chrome grille, restyled front and rear bumper design, larger air-dam, integrated LED DRLs, new fog lights, sportier wheel arches, new multilayered design for the tailgate, chrome finished license plate enclosure and new tail lights.

The new Innova gets a new, updated and more up-market interior as well. The new model features new seat covers, restyled dashboard and centre console, multi-function steering wheel, new instrument cluster design, automatic climate control, etc. The Toyota Innova will continue to be offered in its 7 and 8-seating configurations.
