Japanese car major and Hybrid car pioneer, Toyota Motor has launched the all new 2016 Toyota Prius hybrid model in the company’s home market, Japan. The 2016 Toyota Prius is now available for sale in the Japanese car market, which is the first market in the world to get the new generation model of this iconic hybrid.
Toyota Motor has launched the new generation Toyota Prius hybrid in the car market of Japan at a starting price of 2.4 million yen (approximately Rs. 13.09 lakh), which goes up to 3,39 million yen (approximately Rs. 18.51 lakh) for the top of the range model. Toyota has already received the pre-orders of around 60,000 units of the new hybrid vehicle model in its home market. The Japanese auto giant expects to sell around 12,000 units of the all new Toyota Prius each month. The new generation Toyota Prius is available for sale in the market in four different trim levels, namely E, S, A, and A Premium.
The all new 2016 Toyota Prius hybrid comes with new design language making it more stylish and visually appealing than ever. Like always, this new generation model of the Prius has again made the hybrid vehicle better in all aspects of fuel economy, environment friendliness, style, features and performance. The new Toyota Prius model comes packed with many impressive features, along with features such as powerful Bi-Beam LED headlights as well as smart keyless entry as standard equipments on all variants across the range. The top two trim models of the 2016 Prius, the A and the A Premium model trims obviously come loaded with all the added bells and whistles, including the highly beneficial safety feature package of the Toyota Safety Sense P collision avoidance as well as the mitigation package as standard fitments.
Toyota is also offering a “Touring Selection” option on the all new 2016 Prius hybrid for its mid-level S and higher level A trim models. The Touring Selection package option comes along with the touring friendly features such as synthetic leather seats, aluminum wheels and 215/45 R17 tyres.
The top of the range A Premium model trim of the all new 2016 Toyota Prius hybrid also gets endowed with several premium features to offer the best luxurious feel in the range. The new Prius A premium trim offers genuine leather seat upholstery, leather wrapped steering wheel and many more luxurious accessories.
The new generation Toyota Prius gets its power from a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder DOHC naturally aspirated motor that has the capability to generate 97 bhp of power at 5,200 rpm and a peak torque of 142 Nm at 3,600 rpm. This capable engine is paired to an electric motor that draws energy from a nickel hydride battery pack to add another 71 bhp of power.
The all new Toyota Prius is confirmed to debut in the car market of India at the upcoming 2016 Indian Auto Expo, in February.
