The all new Toyota Prius is obviously a great green car that everyone is eager to behold. Not only is the Prius the first mass produced Hybrid vehicle in the world, but till date the most popular hybrid sedan in the entire globe. The massively successful Toyota Prius has a client list of Hollywood’s top celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz among others, and is considered to be a huge star itself. Thus, it is no wonder that the next generation Toyota Prius has been a huge subject speculations and high anticipation. Ending the long wait, the Japanese car giant has finally taken the wraps off its new generation Prius hybrid sedan named as the Toyota Prius Prime at the New York International Motor Show 2016.
When the styling of the new generation Toyota Prius Prime is concerned, it flaunts a new design language that is much more contemporary and alluring although not a radical change from its previous generation model. The world acclaimed hybrid model comes with a sportier front face that heightens the car’s overall attractive visual appeal. Toyota Motor has endowed the all new Prius with new highly stylized LED headlights which has a similar design to those seen on the new Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell sedan which is a futuristic looking vehicle. Toyota Motor had recently showcased the Mirai fuel cell sedan at the recently 2016 Auto Expo to introduce the car to India in February this year, while the event also witnessed the display of the previous generation Prius model. The all new Prius Prime has also grown in size like all new generation car models and is longer as well as wider than the outgoing model. This means that the new model will offer roomier and more comfortable cabin.
The Japanese car major has not disclosing the overall kerb weight of the all new Toyota Prius Prime at the moment. However, the company claims that its new Prius Prime is 40 percent more fuel efficient as compared against its predecessor. The new generation hybrid model promises to offer the top speed of 135 km per hour on all electric mode, while it can also offer a range of 50 kilometers until the battery is fully exhausted.
In order to make the new generation Prius Prime so efficient, Toyota has incorporated advanced technology, while also improving the car’s aerodynamics which will be compensating for the increased weight of the car as a result of the car’s larger dimensions. The new Prius Prime is also endowed with automatic radiator which, when cooling is not needed, shuts off the car’s vents to further improve the aerodynamics. The car even comes with a rooftop solar panel that charges the car’s battery from sunlight.
All these highly advanced features make the new-gen Toyota Prius Prime the aerodynamic drag coefficient of just 0.2 which enables the tweaked 1.8 liter petrol mill to offer a claimed combined fuel efficiency of around 85.5 km per liter.
