The compact SUV segment is growing at an enormous pace in India as carmakers are launching mini MUV’s to satiate the hunger of MUV buyers who are bound by a budget to adhere to. While Toyota Rush is soon to be launched in India, Ford has already launched the EcoSport amid much hype. Though both the compact MUV’s can be compared on various grounds, we take a look at the exterior and interior styling of the two cars.

Exteriors

Toyota Rush seems to be getting positive reviews for the exterior styling. The exteriors sport a sporty, rugged look and features a large bumper and front grille along with turn signal, aero kit, sleek integrates stop, rear bumper with aero kit, rear reverse lamps, spare tyre on the rear with a chrome look and rugged cover, rear protector for bumper to minimize scratches, door handles with chrome finish, bold front projector headlamps and fog lights, door visor to ensure rain water does not enter inside, sleek door trim, retractable and foldable wing mirrors equipped with turn indicators, chic rear spoiler, large roof rail, highly mounted LED stop laps and sporty 16-inch alloy wheels.

Before launching the EcoSport, Ford had announced that this compact MUV will be a sub-4 meter car which clearly indicates that the EcoSport is shorter that many hatchbacks in the market. This also proves to be the USP of the compact MUV, since its small design will help it maneuver easily in city traffic without losing the MUV charm. However, seeing the design of the EcoSport and it is hard to believe that the car is indeed that small. The exceptional design of the EcoSport is indeed a head turner.

The EcoSport’s top variant features stunning chrome adornments for the circular shaped fog lights as well as the air dam. The air dam of EcoSport looks like the mouth opening of this compact MUV and its styling is exceptional. The headlights look sleek and angular and beautifully complement the slim radiator grill which also has the Ford logo embedded on it. Above the mouth opening, the elevated bonnet lends a macho look to the EcoSport.

Interiors

The interiors of the Toyota Rush are designed intelligently. Among the various comfort features included in this SUV are various seating combinations like the two-seater casual mode, single seater stretch space mode, two seater spacious mode, six-seater mode and seven-seater mode. The interiors are also equipped with double folding feature, sliding seats and an additional foldable third seat. The leather wrapped A/T gate type shift lever along with shift lock, roomy dashboard with matte silver trimmed black analogue combination meter, dual blowing air conditioning, sleek steering wheel wrapped in three spoke leather along with switch controls, height adjustable driver’s seat, elaborate seat materials and a solar film sheath to block heat coming inside the car.

The interiors of the Ford EcoSport resemble to the all-new Ford Fiesta to a great extent. The short heighted gear knob and the three spoke steering wheel lend a classic touch to the EcoSport. The blue lighting on the instrument dials look stunning and also provide ease in reading. The interiors are done neatly in dual color design while the fabric and the plastic quality also resembles to that of Fiesta.
Both the cars will be strongly competing not just on the above features but also price point and the performance.

The Japanese auto giant, Toyota Motors has major plans to expand its product offering in the Indian car market. The world’s largest car manufacturing company has plans to introduce several new cars in India.
Among the contemplated new Toyota cars for the Indian car consumers, one is the Camry Hybrid, which is soon to be launched in the domestic car market. Toyota has also confirmed about the launch of this car in the month of August, 2013 though the exact dates are not revealed. Toyota is apparently very excited about bringing this quality hybrid car to India. The Japanese car major is known for its innovative cars, and thus the company is confident about the success of this hybrid in India, though the Indian car market is rather cynical about these futuristic quality cars that are also eco-friendly.

Nevertheless, Toyota is very optimistic about its Camry Hybrid’s arrival in India and the company is also thinking to assemble the car locally alongside the ongoing 2.4 liter petrol variant of Camry, in order to reduce its price. Toyota is targeting to sell a meager 20 to 25 Camry Hybrid per month in the domestic car market of India.

The Toyota Camry Hybrid will flaunt a very fresh and unique front fascia with stunning features as compared to its Petrol counterpart. However, the rear part of the car will be similar to that of the Camry petrol, though the hybrid car will sport an exclusive blue badge reading ‘Hybrid Synergy Drive’ at its back that will distinguish it.

Toyota is also planning to launch the new Rush in India in order to be a part of the highly coveted compact SUV segment of India. The new Toyota Rush mini SUV is expected to hit the Indian car market sometime around in November this year.

Toyota is expected to bank big on the all new Rush in order to pump up its sales in the market. Toyota had reportedly suffered a steep decline of 35.33 percent in its sales rates in the month of May 2013, and the company is all set to put things back on track.

The new Toyota Rush is a stunning compact SUV that can really make it big in the Indian car market owing to the huge popularity of this segment. The Japanese car major is expected to launch both the fuel options of petrol and diesel versions of the new Rush. The petrol avatar of the Rush will be powered by a 1.4L petrol motor based on the engine that drives the company’s quality sedan, Etios.

On the other hand, the diesel Rush will be driven by a 1.4L D4-D diesel mill that is based on the motor that gives power to the Corolla Altis. Toyota is also expected to offer the all four wheel drive option to the Indian consumers.

Moreover, Toyota is supposed to tag the Rush competitively. Thus, the Japanese car major is all braced up to take on the Indian SUV market as well.

The parent Japanese firm of Toyota called Toyota Motor has plans to force newer products to compete with SUV’s that are expanding at a rapid pace. The main goal here is to expand its portfolio in Indian soil to new levels. Toyota Motor announced that India is not vested with visible policies with respect to import taxes and fuel regulations. The company is however forcing a new scheme of wait and watch plan before zeroing on new segments of diesel models in India, and also to manufacture newer makes of hybrid models. Top officials of the company are of the view that there is a requirement for huge volumes in fast paced car environment markets such as India, at present; there is only one small make of Liva to bear the brunt of acquiring significant sale outputs.

Although officials did not display information on future prospects, the main scheme here is to discover models that can compete with a range of stiff competitors in India. On a global scale, the SUV category is reigning in Indian and other international markets. Company officials have announced that new products will be manufactured to cater to the modern demands of the Indian demographic. The development of Etios is mainly for the Indian segment, said a company official, the Indian population is attentive of the knowhow’s of the functioning of the luxurious makes in the international arena. Our main goal is to satisfy Indian needs and demands to the core.

On Toyota’s future aim for the Indian market, the Vice President of Toyota Motor Asia Executive, Bernie O’Connor stated, ‘’the main plan is the recreation of the international reputation in India; we have a robust position in Asian markets that extends to Philippines and Indonesia as well. Our main goal is to acquire the most established brand in the Indian segment in the near future.’’

The company at the moment is viewing strong Government regulations before implementing on important decisions such as an establishment of diesel engine. Officials claim that there is a requirement of diesel plants for Indian markets; the main set back is the unclear policies which is impacting the strong collaborations with the parent firm.

Toyota cars are extremely popular in India, with the Innova and Corolla Altis contributing heaps of profits to the company. Another spectacular seller is the Prius, which is also the sole hybrid car that is built in India.
The aim of the parent Japanese firm to invent and introduce more models to compete with the cut-throat competition that prevails in the Sport Utility Segment is a profitable move to cater to the growing modern demands in India. In India, the crave and buying power for luxury cars is on the rise, but the main hurdle here is the unclear fuel policies imposed by the Indian government, let’s hope the policies formulated by the Government are clear and more effective which can be a turning point to enhance the car economy segment in India.

It would be interesting to witness a more significant range of Toyota models in India.

The Rush designed by Toyota is a classy compact SUV with a sporty stance, so is the compact SUV S101 designed by Mahindra. The Rush creates a captivating rhythm to consumers with its bumpers and bold grille, super chic fitments and neatly carved headlamps. The rear bumper is designed with the perfect sporty design with a rear bumper which would greatly appeal the sporty demographic. The heightened visibility especially during pitch dark is contributed by the reverse lamp and stop turn signal. The uniqueness of this car is the insertion of a special protector that renders a scratch resistant image to the rear bumper when you drop in and unload luggage.

In India with power cuts occurring at alarming rates, the projector headlamps is extremely beneficial to view minute details in pitch darkness. The style quotient is enhanced by the pristine polish on chrome door handles, the door is inserted with vents to store a range of items, and there is also a super comfy wide arm rest. There is a door visor which prevents rain from penetrating the interiors. The door visor enables occupants to view the amazing scenery in rainy weather without having to worry about getting wet.
There are wing mirror to acquire a breathtaking view of the oncoming traffic enables efficient parking in narrow lanes.

The Mahindra compact S 101 SUV on the other hand is the most talked about car in town. Mahindra and Mahindra is also working on a small version of the SUV called the C-101 which is geared to be fitted with similar engines and engine efficiencies. The S101 will be positioned below the Quanto and the C 101 beneath the Verito and the soon to release CS model.

The Compact SUV 101 is still in the preliminary testing stage; Mahindra had tailored the car with unique ideas to elevate the sporty appeal to the car with an admirable ground clearance and a wind screen which is scrapped.

The 101 is inserted with an efficient 1 to 2 liter petrol engine and a 1 to 3 liter diesel engine adopted from the powerful mHawk engine of the XUV500. Sources claim that the S101 will be inserted with seven seats to match the other sporty vehicles of Mahindra such as Scorpio, Bolero and so on.

The Rush is valued for its world class design; there is minimal information on the engine efficiency. The S101 has all the features of a dynamic sporty car; it has an admirable design like the Rush. In terms of design the S10 and Rush are equal competitors; the S 101 overpowers the Rush with respect to engine efficiency. This car is also a competitor for Ford EcoSport which is also a car with heightened style quotient. For those confused on whether to choose the S 101 or Rush, the S101 is likely to one of the new stunners for Mahindra, the launch date of the car is not revealed. Let’s wait and watch what happens.

The compact SUV segment in India is really picking momentum and all the auto giants are really jumping onto the SUV bandwagon creating a fast competition in the Indian market. The clear leader of this segment in the Indian auto industry is Mahindra & Mahindra, which is gaining a lot of market shares despite the bad market conditions. Other car manufacturing giants like the largest car maker in India, Maruti Suzuki is rejoicing the success of its MPV Ertiga and has major plans to enter the compact SUV segment.

Following the latest trend in India the Japanese car major Toyota is ready to launch compact SUV, Rush in the domestic market. When the car launches in India it will have competition from several rival models, including the Tata Aria mini SUV, when it gets launched in the market. The Toyota Rush compact SUV was said to be launched by the end of 2013 but may get postponed to the middle of 2014.

Let us consider the two future baby SUV launches, namely the Toyota Rush and the Tata Aria mini.
The Toyota Rush is supposed to contain all the elements to make it a big hit in the Indian market. It is supposed to be launched in both petrol and diesel engine options.

Under the hood, the Toyota Rush petrol variant will be powered by a 1.4-litre petrol engine that drives the Etios sedan. The diesel Rush variant will be powered by a 1.4-litre D4-D diesel engine which powers the Corolla Altis. The Toyota Rush is expected to be available with a four-wheel drive option in India.

As far as pricing is concerned, Toyota is expected to launch the SUV with a price range of Rs. 10 lakhs.
On the other hand, comes the next big launch from Tata Motors, which is struggling with sales and is eager to launch a successful model. The existing Tata Aria despite being a very capable car with advanced technology, spacious interior and a superb engine could not make its mark in the Indian market because of its premium pricing. But the car cannot be priced any lower by the company as it does contain very valuable components. Thus, the Indian auto giant is confident that a mini Aria with a competitive price will surely win over the Indian consumers.

The compact SUV Tata Aria will be a sub-4 metre vehicle to avail the excise duty benefits. The boot of the existing car will be slashed to achieve the mini model. Because the Aria mini has to have a competitive price range, some of the amazing technology of the existing Aria would also have to be cut off.

The specifications of the car is yet unknown. But it will be certainly adequately powerful as Tata intends to make the car very powerful and value for money. As for the pricing it is though that Tata Motors price it around Rs. 5 lakhs.

With the Rush and the Aria mini, the baby SUV segment in India will get more interesting for sure.

The compact SUV segment is really booming in the Indian auto market and that’s a well-known fact. Thus, all the auto manufacturing companies are hoping onto the SUV bandwagon to taste the success that Mahindra & Mahindra is already raveling in. The Indian auto market is brimming with very successful compact SUVs, from the Mahindra XUV500 and Rexton to the Renault Duster, and many more are on their way.

The Japanese major Toyota too wants a slice of this sweet and successful pie. Thus, the auto company is all set to create a storm in the Indian auto market with its compact SUV, the Toyota Rush. This baby SUV from Toyota comes with a lot of promises, as it claims to offer functionality, comfort and performance along with great styling.

The Toyota Rush will look quite like the RAV4 from the front, which is very a popular SUV from the house of Toyota. The SUV is also supposed to offer tough build quality as well. It is meant to be a big and hardy family car that will move the mass with style.

As for the interiors of the compact SUV is concerned, it has a nice and practical cabin meant for the superior comfort of the passengers. This 5 to 7 seater mini SUV is going to enter into a tough competition among many other SUVs in India, that are already running on the roads or are about to make their debuts.
Under the hood, it is expected to be powered by a 1.5 L4 petrol engine that produces 108 Bhp at 6000 rpm. The engine is mated with a 5 speed Manual transmission.

The elegant and classy exterior looks of the Toyota Rush is matched by the world class features that is standard on this compact SUV. The car will be equipped with an Anti-Brake System (ABS), EBD Alarm System, Anti-Jam power windows, and height adjustable driver seats among other high-end features. This SUV is already gracing the roads of Malaysia and is highly awaited in India.

The Toyota Rush is expected to be priced around Rs. 9,50,000 and is expected to arrive the Indian market towards the end of this year. Now, the Toyota Rush will be a tough contender of the Indian SUV master’s Mahindra Quanto. This compact SUV is also very popular in India that was launched in September 2012.

The Mahindra Quanto comes with really great performance and the brand assurance of Mahindra. It is very comfortable for 5 passengers though the car can also accommodate up to 7 passengers.
Under the hood, the Quanto is powered by a BS IV diesel engine mated with a 5 speed manual transmission.

Though the exterior of the Quanto is not really snazzy and can’t match up to the Toyota Rush, it can really make it up by offering a great price tag. The Mahindra Quanto is aggressively priced at Rs 5.82 lakh, which reaches up to Rs 7.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the top-end variant. Needless to say, the Quanto and the Rush will really lock horns to heat up the SUV segment.
