Toyota is not only the world’s largest car manufacturing company but also the pioneer of hybrid and other green cars. Being the largest selling company in the globe’s automotive industry, Toyota understands that the world’s eco-system is at stake with the rising pollution level. Thus, the company is doing its share by trying to reduce the amount of harmful car emissions by producing superior hybrids as well as completely emission free cars, so that the car consumers of the world can help the environment while driving their high performance cars.
Toyota has been constantly working hard on improving the overall performance of its world famous hybrid cars. Presently, the Japanese auto giant is very busy developing the next generation version of its very popular Prius Hybrid vehicle. Recently, this all new Prius was spotted in California and its spy pictures were also obtained. The spy shots of this next generation Toyota Prius Hybrid suggests that this might be a model meant for the year 2015.
The test mule was caught with very awkward camouflage that seemed to be improvised out of very cheap plastic sheets in black. The camouflage rather looked like an oversized body cover that tried to hide most of the vehicle’s body parts. It seems like Toyota spend next to nothing to camouflage its latest hybrid model.
Under the camouflage the all new Toyota Prius comes with its signature half-moon design language, which the car has been following ever since the year 2003. These spy pictures have also given rise to the huge amount of speculations that the next generation Prius Hybrid could also get a new design that has been inspired by the 2013 NS4 concept.
Then again, Toyota would be adding a new sedan in the Prius lineup with the introduction of this new model. Currently, Toyota offers the ongoing models of Prius C, Prius V and Prius Plug in its Prius Hybrid model portfolio and the introduction of this new model will ensure the further strengthening of the very successful Prius Hybrid family.
Coming back to the next generation Prius that was spotted in California, the spy pictures reveal that the car is endowed with a sporty looking three-spoke steering wheel and also features an instrument panel design that is very similar to BMW models. The car was also witnessed with rather jumbled up pieces and showed the lack of room to accommodate a center stack display screen. However, the final product could be very different from the test mule, as the spotted vehicle was just a prototype and the car is still in the development process.
As per the reports, the all new Toyota Prius Hybrid will be driven by an upgraded version of the ongoing electric engine and system. However, the new model will retain the same nickel-metal hybrid batteries that run the existing models.
As the project is still in its initial stages, the details on the drive system are also not available. The reports suggest that this new Toyota Prius is meant for the US car market.
