New Duster spy testing in Chennai

One of Renault’s highly successful models, Duster is getting a much required and highly anticipated facelift which is expected to be launched in Indian markets by the end of this year. The latest development regarding the model is the reports of the car caught spied testing in Chennai very recently. It is rumoured that the biggest change on the Duster will be a 6 speed DCT which going to be mated with a two wheel drive diesel engine variant. Along with that the SUV is expected to get some big and small changes on the exteriors and the insides. The vehicle that got spotted in Chennai was heavily camouflaged but we tried our best to decode what it is actually hiding inside the cover.

As it is obvious by looking at the camouflaged pictures, the SUV is laced with fresh set of strong alloy wheels and the LED type tail lamps which quite obviously is similar to the Duster facelift version which got launched recently in the Brazilian car market. The fans can expect on the front side of the car new headlamps and elegantly up marketed front grille and the bumper. Other than those changes, the exteriors looked quite identical with the current version of Duster running proudly on the Indian roads. The insanely covered spy model however was successfully able to hide a lot on the interiors but still we managed to get a glimpse of what changes could we get inside the SUV. It seemed quite different from the current model indicating that the interiors did receive a lot of attention from the makers. Although it was not much anticipated as the current Duster is laced with some amazing features on the insides making it one of the coolest SUVs out there. But still, it received a new slightly more upmarket dashboard which is clearly visible. However, for other inside information, we guess the consumers have to wait until the SUV gets launched officially. But we do expect that the Renault is going to surprise us in quite an upmarket fashion. After all, it is Maruti Suzuki S-Cross and Hyundai Creta who is going to give a head to head competition to Renault’s modified monster.

Renault has launched the automatic transmission option with this one thus clearing its intentions of giving a tough competition to Maruti and Hyundai. This added feature is expected to make the Duster a worthy competitor of Creta and S-Cross. Although, Maruti and Hyundai are the two biggest car sellers in the country, it will still be difficult for Renault, as it is relatively new to Indians and it is a well known fact that Indians relies more on the already established brand names. But still, considering the fact that Renault is one of the first names to launch big cars for the Indian market, it has earned a special place in market in a few years time.

No mechanical changes are expected in the new Duster apart from the inclusion of DCT. The new model is expected to come with a 1.6 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engine.
