The Liva and the WagonR , both come for two different classes, one trying to aim for the crowd that prefers safety and comfort (The Liva) and the other for the people who require a fuel efficient and spacious way to travel (WagonR). When it comes to the looks, the Liva seems to have the edge, despite Maruti’s efforts to redesign the WagonR to more modern style. The Liva emanates a sporty look that the WagonR envies.
Under the hood the Liva is 1.2-Litre, 4 Cylinder engine capable of producing 80PS at 6000rpm. It follows and electronic fuel injection system and can produce a torque of 104Nm at 3100rpm. On the other hand, the WagonR seems to be the less powerful with 67PS at 6200rpm and with a maximum torque of 90Nm at 3500rpm. The difference of 13PS power is a vast one and also the rpm scale for the Liva is very less, thus making it ideal for Indian roads. The fuel efficiency of the Liva is around the 18.31 kmpl and that of the WagonR is around 18.9 kmpl. Thus in terms of the engine and engine efficiency, it seems that the Liva is better.
The interiors of the Liva are much better than the WagonR, probably because it came out later. At the same time, Maruti never have been able to completely satisfy the customer’s need for plush interiors. The Liva has sporty interiors and also the centre cluster is innovative. The WagonR in turn, is more spacious and provides a nice long drive, especially with family. The AC vents of the Liva have been placed in an unconventional manner, with the central vents directly streamlining the flow towards the passengers behind. When it comes to the interior, the Liva reigns.
The Liva in terms of the convenience has electronic power steering, all door power windows, adjustable seat belts, keyless entry and a central locking system. The WagonR on the other hand lacks all of these features. It seems the WagonR is much more inconvenient as compared to the Liva.
In terms of the safety, both the cars have a ventilated disc brake in the front and a drum brake in the rear. Liva has anti fog headlights in the front and rear, whereas the WagonR has no such characteristic. The Liva also has an anti-theft alarm, rear window defogger and a seat belt warning.
The one point where the Maruti leads the Liva is in terms of service centers. The service and customer service provided for the WagonR is unparalleled. It is one of the biggest plus points for the WagonR. It has a wide range of spare parts that are easily available, and the official service centers will fix your car for cheap and in haste.
In conclusion, I would like to state that the WagonR is for the person who needs to travel in spacious comfort and requires the extra room for family etc. The Liva is better option in most aspects and is placed almost in the same price category.
