High action motorsport racing was held at HUDA leisure valley on 6th of October. It was an exhilarating event as Race of champions’ format was introduced for the first time to excite Indian motorsport fans and enthusiasts. All the participants were in EMRs (Etios Motor racing). There were other interesting places also, like the SUV zone, racing simulators, merchandise kiosks and other events. VJ and youth icon Ranvijay was seen mingling with the audience and enjoying an occasional ride in the EMR.
The EMR was launched by Toyota at last year’s Delhi Auto show. Since then, it has travelled to 14 cities and 24 Toyota dealerships wherein, 25 racers were selected by a team of experts. The EMR had already had a successful track debut at Chennai in august, Toyota Kirloskar Motor launched the Etios Motor Racing event in HUDA Valley, Gurgaon. The events were very exhilarating and engaged audiences from all age groups.
The Spectators got a chance to see the exciting new Race of Champions format which showcased the skills of 25 of the best drivers found by Toyota experts all around the country. This event is to add to Toyota’s Waku-Doki theme of more excitement, joy and fun. This event was aimed at connecting with the Indian youth through the sheer joy brought by EMR. These events also teach new drivers and motorsport enthusiasts’ new impetus about driving and performing their skills on a stage.
The EMR Series is being supported by one of the most accomplished and acclaimed engineering companies in motorsport history – TRD (Toyota Racing Development) the Company’s global legacy of motorsports, the corporate brand from the Toyota affiliate, Toyota Technocrat Co. Ltd.
The EMR series which is slated to be held in late 2013 will be based in single –make racing championship platform. The cars to be used in that event would be FIA qualified with the racing parts and technical expertise provided by TRD.
The final 25 selected drivers were put through an all-encompassing training program and practice sessions by experts from TRD and acclaimed Indian racing drivers. The session also included drier training, mental training, psychological training and physical training.
The EMR platform would give tainted youngsters a chance to develop their skills and further train to gain a competitive edge in their future racing careers. They were monitored by experts in the field and given the opportunity to compete against the best in India. This series not only highlights the power and prowess of the parent company but, also the endurance levels of the petite Etios and the ‘fun to drive’ quotient of the car.
Overall, this was a completely entertaining event for any motor enthusiast in the world. With various types of races available, good merchandise available and also, the special areas like SUV zone. Also presence of Ranvijay and the TRD team added to the class of the event.
