Fortuner is an impressive and mighty mid – sized SUV from Toyota Kirloskar Motors. This SUV flaunts a muscular body and sporty looks which can easily impress the customers. Before coming to India, Fortuner has been launched in various other countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Oman, etc. This car has been made based on the platform of Hilux, a pickup truck not from India. By launching Fortuner in India, Toyota aimed to make its position strong in the premium SUV segment of India. Mahindra, whereas has designed XUV500 not only for India but also globally. XUV500 is a newly designed SUV from the UV makers Mahindra & Mahindra. This SUV have been made from the scratches and also after extensive surveys conducted by the company. The exteriors of both the SUVs are discussed.
Toyota has followed the Pan – model design approach of all the companies and has tweaked most of its models so that they get a similar face so that they can be recognized from a distance. Thus the new SUV has got Toyota’s signature grille, Toyota’s logo and other designs that belong to the Toyota’s family. The front of the car flaunts a wide grille having chrome finished horizontal grille slats. The chrome finished logo of the company rests in between the first and the second slats. The headlamps look sleek and have self leveling projector lamps. There is a standard headlamp washer that seems to have held the front sharp bumper. The bumper houses fog lamps on its both sides at the front. These fog lamps collaborate with the headlamps to offer better visibility in extreme weather conditions. The bonnet of the car has acute character lines and a wide air scoop which cools the intercooler. The roof has ski racks and the sides have steps, the OVRMs come in body colour and have turn indicators integrated. The tail lamps are a rare combination with wedge cut clear lens.
Mahindra XUV500 has the look like that of a Cheetah. This is because this SUV has a jaw shaped front grille, door handles which are paw shaped. The bodylines of the car seems like a cheetah is about to pounce and when the car moves, it seems like a cheetah is in motion. This new SUV is based on the Monocoque construction, which means the construction of a single frame. This ensures the better handling and makes the car safe and secure. The front of the portion of the car resembles a jaw shaped honeycomb grille which looks same as a Cheetah’s face cuts. The front bumpers are broad and the headlamps are barrel shaped and have turn indicators integrated in the same headlamp assembly. The front and rear wheels comes with the splashguard. The doors have pawed shaped handles and it adds to the thematic looks of the car. The roof rails have also been streamlining with the roofs. The rear has spoiler and high mounted stop lamps.
Toyota Fortuner is really a show stealer if compared to Mahindra XUV500.
