All these 3 vehicles cater to the same type of consumers looking for a comfortable and reliable ride to take them and their family places. The MPV segment is not really performance based; rather it is based more towards utility and passenger comfort. All these vehicles come from the portfolio of huge automobile players such as Toyota, Maruti Suzuki and Indian automobile giants Mahindra and Mahindra. Here, we take a look at the interiors of these 3 vehicles, which are an integral feature of any MPV and critical to providing passenger comfort.
The Innova, coming from Japanese automobile major Toyota is probably the best endowed vehicle in terms of interiors in the MPV segment currently in India. The cabin is done completely in beige with the seats wrapped in beige leather and the plastics used also in beige and of very high quality. The Innova is a very spacious vehicle. The legroom in the first 2 rows is unbeatable and even the 3rd row is comfortable enough for shorter people to travel long distances. The Innova is also well stuffed with gadgets and gizmos, with a 6-inch screen mounted in the central console giving all the necessary details about the vehicle. The seats of the Innova are ergonomically designed which makes driving or travelling in the car very comfortable.
The Xylo is also brilliantly stuffed with features for comfort and entertainment. The showstopper in the Xylo is the amazing voice control feature which enables the user to control over 30 features in the car by merely talking to it. The Xylo is also pretty spacious and comes with a huge amount of legroom and good headroom, living up to the “Happy Legs” banner. The seats are wrapped in good quality Italian leather giving the cabin of the Xylo a very luxurious look. Overall the car is paced with small storage spaces here and there, giving the Xylo a good score in the Interiors department.
Moving on the Ertiga, the so called LUV (Life Utility Vehicle) from Maruti Suzuki is based on the swift platform, hence making it difficult for engineers to put in 3 row seating. However, the Engineers at Maruti Suzuki have done a remarkable job in not only putting in a 3rd row of seats but also, making it spacious enough to seat humans. The Ertiga also is wrapped in beige, with minor styling tweaks here and there, giving it a very classy and comfortable feel. It has good spacing inside the cabin and the 3-row ac vents add to the comfort of the passengers.
On an overall comparison, the Innova wins the battle of the Best interiors in this segment, with best in class space and built quality. It is followed by the elegant styling of the Ertiga. The Xylo however is not bad at interiors at all, but it is the difference in the sheer quality and reliability of products of Toyota and Suzuki against that from Mahindra and Mahindra.
