Toyota LC 200 versus Audi Q7 versus Land Rover Discovery4 Engine comparison

Performance is the biggest factor in comparing different SUVs. SUVs are based entirely on performance and their power to feed the expectations of the users. These big cars are powered by huge power houses enabling them to go to any terrain on and off the road. These cars are also powered to high speeds with ease due to their monstrous hearts. Some of the numbers they put up are mind boggling and can excite any car lover. Not only the size of the engines, also are the high power outputs very impressive to look at.

The Land Cruiser 200 is powered by a monstrous 4.5Litre 4461CC diesel engine. It is and 8 cylinder V8, with 4 valves per cylinder having DOHC mechanism. All this is complimented by a common rail type fuel system enabling the LC 200 to produce a maximum power of 286PS@3600RPM and a massive maximum torque of 650NM@1600RPM. This power supplier is well mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission making the huge LC very easy and comfortable to drive. The engine is very smooth and very powerful. It is easy to take the LC off-road because of its high stability and reliability.

Audi-Q7-2

The Q-7 is available with 2 diesel options in India. Both the engines use the Quattro technology and both mated with a super refined 6-speed automatic transmission. The first engine is a huge 4.2Litre 4134CC V8 engine. This engine produces a maximum power of 345PS@4000RPM and an impressive torque of 760Nm@ 1750-3000RPM which is unbeatable. The other variant is powered by a much smaller 3.0Litre TDI Quattro engine, which pumps out a maximum power of 232.5PS @ 4000RPM. Though small, the engine is still capable enough to power the car to high speed and on off road terrain. The noise levels are very low for both engines even at peak torque and are fitted with engine automatic start stop function for greater fuel economy and reduced CO2 emissions.

The Land Rover is powered by a 6-V longitudinal cylinder 3.0Litre TDV6 automatic diesel engine. It is mated with common rail type 6-cylinders with 4 valves on each cylinder. The power is proportionately dispersed by a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine is fitted with 2 turbo, firstly a Variable geometry turbocharger used at low speeds and secondly a standard turbo which is brought into action at higher speeds. It also houses a lock-up system for greater fuel efficiency. All this enable the Discovery 4 to generate a maximum power of 245PS@4000RPM and a maximum torque of 600Nm@200RPM.

All the cars as told earlier are powered by huge power houses and give out mind boggling statistics on paper. In reality however, the massive 4.5Litre engine of the LC 200 is the best among the 3 with its great power and torque output. The 4.2 Litre Audi is also very good and the 3.0 litre Range Rover, though small is capable enough to challenge the other 2 cars in any field.
