Keeping in line, the announcement of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) globally, Toyota Kirloskar Motors have also voluntarily announced the recall of the Corolla Altis (30th July – 31st July 2008) and Camry (1st September 2006 – 31st Dec 2008). Toyota Kirloskar Motors will be recalling approx 8, 700 vehicles in India. This will be done for the inspection of Power Window Master Switch (PWMS). This campaign will be conducted on a voluntary basis by TKM.
The Camry and the Corolla Altis models of the specified years are certainly have the PWMS which might have begin to feel notchy or have become inoperative. The probable reasons for this problem may be due to the wear and tear over time of the specific contact points in the PWMS. The owners who have been covered within this Recall Campaign shall receive a notification or a call both from Toyota. The Recall Campaign is planned to be held from November onwards. The campaign shall be conducted in all the dealerships of TKM all across India.
During the campaign, authorized Toyota dealers will inspect the PWMS and will get them replaced if necessary. It will not cost any charge to the consumers. The repair is expected to take one hour approximately fully depending on the dealer’s schedule of working. Apart from Camry and Corolla Altis, no other cars from Toyota come under this Recall Campaign.
As a part of the customer first policy, this voluntary recall is being announced by TMC globally. The same has been followed by TKM in India. The company will also notify SIAM, which is the part of the voluntary code on vehicle recall. This will be done even when the recall does not fall within the purview of any safety hazards. The company has requested its customers not to panic because this is not a safety hazard rather it is a precautionary measure. This will voluntarily be carried out by the company. TKM looks forward to their understanding during this period.
