Toyota India is upgrading the Etios car with a new facelift in early 2013. The first car to have exterior renewal is the Tata Indigo CS. Tata Motors modified the CS to a more compact car under 4m in length. Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire also underwent exterior modification and was received well with the public.
These modifications were observed in the big car segment as well, Mahindra Quanto and Rio are examples of cars modified to reach the sub-4 meter segment. The other cars making an entry in 2013 are the Mahindra Verito CS, Ford EcoSport and Honda Brio Amaze.
Toyota India, has been struggling with the Etios car. The company is now focussing on developing the Etios car, then importing and manufacturing new cars in India. Unfortunately the Etios twins have not met the required market profit. The strategy that the company could use to increase the market value of Etios is to consider manufacturing a compact sedan. The main problem of introducing new cars into India is decisions have to be reconsidered and worked along the lines of Government policies or to match the quality and standards of the particular cars competitors.
With the hike in petrol prices, inflation and market fluctuation, Toyota India is now focussing on developing Etios twin cars for a while and is not keen on promoting other Toyota cars, not even the popular Lexus. The strategy of the company to focus on Etios till these cars earn market value is a good one, in order to increase profit sales of a particular model which has already been appreciated by the public than take the risk of introducing new cars. This way there are fewer chances of incurring losses.
