The world’s most selling car manufacturer, Toyota Motor is known to be working full swing on the company’s most speculated and precious project. The project is of course the development of the upcoming Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles that a lot of renowned global car makers have also shrunk away from. The Fuel Cell technology is supposed to the most effective, efficient and powerful technology that can change the future of commutation system for the better. The Fuel Cell cars are completely emission free and much more efficient that the modern battery run plug-in Electric Vehicles.
However the Fuel Cell powered cars require hydrogen in its purest form that is not only cumbersome but also really expensive, and so is the set up of hydrogen refueling pumps. Though the global auto majors are working on the Hydrogen powered cars’ technology for decades the advancements have been particularly slow, not to mention the near absence of the hydrogen fuelling infrastructure.
Nevertheless, Toyota is strongly supporting the green campaign is also said to be ready with its Fuel Cell cars to be introduced in the year 2015. Though there are no details on the hydrogen powered cars from Toyota, according to some sources, the Japanese car major is ready to showcase its Fuel Cell sedan at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show that is due in November.
According to the reports, this new mid-sized Fuel Cell sedan is ready to be unveiled at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show and may go into sale in the US car market as early as 2014. This 2015 model is said to be not only be a full-fledged hydrogen powered car for the retail market but will also have a competitive pricing that will rival against the mid-sized luxury sedans such as the Tesla Model S and BMW.
This surely reduces the huge price range that was previously mentioned as to be between $50,000 and $100,000. Moreover, recently the vice president of strategic planning at Toyota USA group, Chris Hostetter revealed to the media personals that the fuel cell car will cost around $50,000, in the car market. More importantly, the upcoming fuel cell car will have a great range of 300 miles.
Toyota had also introduced the FCV-R fuel cell vehicle concept at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show. The car concept really looked like a future car with an astonishing design language. The overall styling is not only stylish but also very futuristic and extremely visually appealing. The stunning design has already wowed the audience, and if the upcoming Toyota Fuel Cell car adheres to this car concept, then it is very likely to impress the car consumers.
Presently, the Japanese car major is heading the “Future of Mobility Conversation” at this year’s Aspen Ideas Festival and is again discussing about the hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles along with the company’s next important project of the Advanced Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicles.
With the increasing amount of enthusiasm, Toyota certainly seems to be gaining real achievements in the Fuel Cell technology.
