Hybrid pioneer Toyota Prius has been always the most successful and popular hybrid car in the world over its generations. However, newer models are giving it tough fight not only in enhanced looks and comfort levels, but in the efficiency level as well. Thus, the world’s to selling car maker Toyota is eager to introduce the all new Prius with an all new design language along with an all new performance level as well. Currently, the 2016 next-gen Toyota Prius is one of the most awaited green cars of the world. However, the lovers of the Prius hybrid might have to wait a bit longer to grab their all new Prius, as reports suggest a delay in the car’s market launch.
According to an automotive journal, Toyota Motor has delayed the planned production date of the next-gen Prius by six months, from Spring of 2015 to the end of the year. That is likely to affect the car’s launch date by the same amount of time. The scheduled production of the plug-in version of the next-gen Prius remains unchanged to October 2016 which is much later than the full hybrid version of the car.
While the report talks about the possible delay of the Prius’ launch, it does not state what exactly caused such a massive delay of 6 months.
According to a source the engineers of Toyota are working on extra tweaks, as the next-gen model is expected to be absolutely an evolved version of the current model and superbly advanced as well. The source suspects the delay involves maximization of fuel economy and chassis reinforcement.
Such delay is not actually inappropriate as the Prius is one of the most important vehicles from Toyota. The Prius is also a yardstick for Toyota and it would naturally want to heighten the car’s standard and appeal in the next-gen model, and so a delay in order to ensure everything is perfect is quite natural for the Japanese car major.
The Toyota Prius Hybrid has sold more than six million units worldwide, since its inception back in the year 1997. And with every generation model, the Prius has only got better and more efficient.
The 2016 all new Toyota Prius hybrid is expected to debut Toyota’s all new design language which is aimed to be ‘heart racing’ by the company. Apart from an alluring new design language, the next Prius is also going to be much stronger and stable with a reinforced body chassis. It is being built on Toyota’s all new platform along with critical new technologies including the company’s next generation hybrid system. Thus, the world’s audience has huge expectation levels regarding the all new Prius, as it is an all new car in every single aspect.
Apart from the traditional shape, the new Prius is expected to arrive with everything new. Toyota is also aiming to offer a ten percent fuel economy enhancement and improve the next-gen model’s mileage to 55 mpg when it launches.
