Toyota Australia overtakes Holden by achieving the export milestone of over 1 million vehicles

The world’s most selling car company, Toyota Motor has become the largest exporter in the Australian car market by overtaking Holden. Toyota has exported over 1 million vehicles in half the time that Holden took for exporting 900,000 cars.  Toyota’s Australian wing has reportedly crossed the milestone of exporting one million vehicles to the car market of Middle East, with a record shipment of 97,000 units in 2008.

Toyota has been exporting the Australia made Camry to the Middle East market since 1996 but started exporting other cars from Australia from the year 1986. While on the other hand, Holden has been able to export 907,000 vehicles in 59 years’ time. As export remains one of the primary focuses of the Australian government, it has revealed that Holden must export considerably if the company wishes to continue to get a high tax exemption from the government. Exports are a vital survival strategy for all the car manufacturing companies in Australia, as the domestic industry is really slow and no cars in the domestic market sell enough to sustain a car maker’s local factory in Australia. Ford Australia has already announced to shut down its manufacturing operations from October 2016 faced by poor sales and limited exports.

On the other hand, Toyota Australia is sustaining as it exports around 70 percent of its total Australian production, which accounts for around 70,000 vehicles per year from the Altona plant. Toyota Australia’s profitability on exports has been reportedly improved due to the recent depreciation of the Australian dollar, which has also resulted in the cost savings in the inputs required for the development process. Apart from the Middle East car markets, Toyota Australia has been also exporting vehicles to the car market of New Zealand as well as the South Pacific Islands. Toyota Australia has reached the milestone of one million vehicle exports in all of its overseas car markets in the month of August, 2012, which is a first time achievement for any local car manufacturing company in Australia. However, the current month of September this year has earned another first time milestone achievement for Toyota Australia, as the company has successfully exported over 1 million vehicles to just one region of the world that happens to the Middle East car market.

Meanwhile, Toyota is extremely busy preparing a whole host of new cars for the world’s auto market. The Japanese auto giant which is known for its innovation and as a pioneer of hybrid and green cars in the globe is expected to present a slew of new cars by the year 2015. The year 2015 is very important for the car behemoth, as it has plans to unveil several fresh as well as refreshed hybrid models in the world. Moreover, Toyota’s first mass produced Fuel Cell car is also expected to hit the market in the year 2015.  Thus, the world’s leading automotive company is all braced up to get a massive response from the globe’s car consumers with its slew of upcoming cars.
