Toyota unveils new refreshed Fortuner in Indonesia

The Indian car market is experiencing a lot of action lately with a lot of new launches taking place. Maruti Suzuki has launched the more premium hatch Stingray, while Hyundai has launched its stunning Grand i10. The world’s auto leader Toyota has also launched the all new Camry Hybrid only towards the end of August. However, the Indian auto market is expecting other new refreshed cars in the form of the Toyota Innova as well as the Fortuner. The Toyota Fortuner has received a mild facelift in the Indonesian car market which is expected to soon make its way to India.

The Indonesian subsidiary of Toyota, PT Toyota Astra Motor has introduced the facelift version of the Toyota Fortuner along with the launch of an updated TRD Sportivo kit for this stunning SUV.

The new Toyota Fortuner gets very mild additions. As far as updates are concerned, the regular Fortuner trims get just a pair of LED strips that do the job of daytime running lights on the vehicle and are placed on the bumper of the SUV.

As for the TRD Sportivo edition of the Toyota Fortuner which is more popular as well as the other high-end model trims, the company has done more work as it is very apparent from the pictures. In the place of the chrome front grill of the regular Fortuner variants, the TRD model flashes a black painted front grill. The TRD edition model also features skirting on its bumpers along with a set of freshly designed exclusive alloy wheels. The Fortuner TRD model is also endowed with a new and advanced entertainment system along with a new DVD player.

As already mentioned, the Toyota Fortuner gets mild refreshment in the Indonesian car market and thus there are no powertrain upgrades. Under the hood, the refreshed Toyota Fortuner continues to be powered by the same 2.7 liter petrol motor as well as the 2.5 liter diesel motor that used to run the car previously also. The Fortuner also has 2 transmission gearbox option offerings for the consumers in the form of a 5 speed manual and a 4 speed automatic transmission gearbox.

Back in India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) does not offer the petrol variant of the Fortuner but in its place it offers a more powerful 3.0 liter diesel motor which is coupled with a 4 speed automatic transmission gearbox which was further upgraded to a 5 speed automatic transmission gearbox towards the beginning of the current year.

The refreshed Toyota Fortuner is priced between 396 million Rupiah (equivalent to Rs. 24.16 lakhs) and 478.55 million Rupiah (equivalent to Rs. 24.16 lakhs).

Thus, Toyota has not given its Fortuner the more aggressive and impressive facelift that it has endowed on the new refreshed Innova, which was also recently launched in the Indonesian car market. However, the Fortuner lovers should have their chins up as the next generation Fortuner is due by the year 2016. Another small upgrade may make its way to the Fortuner before its all new form appears.
