With the upcoming 2014 Indian Auto Expo nearing, all the automakers are getting ready with their new offerings as well as concepts. The Indian auto enthusiasts expect some very interesting ideas from the world’s auto leader Toyota Motor. Considering the booming SUV segment of the Indian auto industry, Toyota is expected to bring in some new SUV offerings in India.
Though there are no confirmations from the Japanese car maker’s side, Toyota is expected to bring in the new refreshed Fortuner SUV in India soon. Considering the fact that the new refreshed Innova made its way into the Indian car market after being first launched in Indonesia, the same is expected for the Fortuner facelift model which was launched in the Indonesian car market a few months back. Moreover, Toyota is also said to be introducing the company may also launch the new revamped TRD Sportivo Kit for the Fortuner SUV in India.
Toyota Motor introduced the new refreshed Fortuner SUV in the Indonesian car market along with the new TRD Sportivo kit. The regular model of the Toyota Fortuner in Indonesia flaunts some new LED strips that work as daytime running lights. As far as the exterior looks are concerned, the new Fotuner gets new chrome finished front grille, some skirting on the front and back bumpers and redesigned alloy wheels. With the inclusion of the new features, the Fortuner looks even more aggressive now.
On the inside, the new Toyota Fortuner remains the same and now gets a new advanced entertainment system along with a DVD player.
Under the hood, the new refreshed Fortuner in Indonesia is powered by the same engine options of a 2.7 liter petrol and a 2.5 liter diesel engine. The SUV is offered in two transmission options of a 5 speed manual as well as a 4 speed automatic gearboxes. However, in India the Fortuner is driven by a bigger 3 liter diesel mill, which is coupled with a 5 speed automatic transmission, while a petrol model of the SUV is also available in India. The new Fortuner has a price range of 396 million Rupiah to 478.55 million Rupiah in the Indonesian market.
Apart from the new Fortuner, Toyota is also expected to its compact SUV Rush in India. Toyota has also finished the pre-testing formalities for the Rush and is expected to commence the road testing of the SUV soon in India. Toyota is expected to modify the Rush as a sub-4 SUV for the Indian market and is expected to power it with a 1.5 liter petrol engine that powers the Etios and a 1.4 liter diesel mill that powers the Corolla Altis.
If Toyota launches the Rush in India, then it will be pitched against the likes of Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano. Moreover, Maruti Suzuki, Honda and Hyundai are all getting ready to launch their own SUVs in the Indian car market. Thus, Toyota is also expected to come up with a brand new SUV model, and the Rush seems to be a very good option.
