Toyota has finally launched the improvised version of its Fortuner in Indonesia. Both its regular model and its Sportiva variant have undergone minor changes in the model that would be released in the year 2014. The major modifications would be a front bumper that would feature two strips of daytime LED running lights. The TRD range on the other hand would feature a front grille that is finished in stylish black, and its bumpers would be treated with skirts to afford it a sporty look.
Significant changes with the new Fortuner 2014:
The interiors of the Fortuner would feature a new entertainment system, that would include a DVD player and there are significant mechanical up gradations as well. There would be two engine options for the Fortuner, namely the 2.7 liter petrol engine and a 2.5 liter diesel engine, and derivative of Innova. Both the engines would be mated either to a five speed or a four speed automatic transmission system, rumors reveal that the Indian version of the vehicle would be launched with a 3 liter diesel engine mated to a 5 speed transmission system only.
Launch of the new Fortuner from Toyota in India:
Just before a year, Toyota has launched its TRD Sportiva variant In India with good response from its customers, and we could expect the same trend with the new limited edition of TRD Sportiva Fortuner in the year 2014 as well. There would be minor changes made on the vehicle as discussed earlier, such as TRD engraved body stripes, rear TRD Sportiva emblem, rear roof spoiler, aerodynamically designed front and rear bumper spoiler, radiator grille with TRD emblem etc.
Toyota has planned to launch just 400 units of the variant as a limited edition launch in India, though we could expect more during the festive season. This limited edition Fortuner would be available in two different color options such as Super White and Super Mica metallic. The limited edition would be made available in 4×4 manual variant alone, though previously it was 4×3 manual an automatic guise mixed launch.
Cost of the New Fortuner in India:
The last time when the same vehicle was launched in India, it was priced at Rs 21.75 lakhs for the 4×2 variant. But the 2014 Fortuner Sportiva is expected to be launched with 4×4 manual transmission system and its prices would be, Rs 24 lakhs and 26 thousand, in New Delhi, ex showroom. The regular variant with 4×4 manual transmission systems is expected to cost around Rs 23.50 Lakhs in Delhi. Just for the TRD emblems printed around the SUV, its users may have to pay Rs, 75,000 extra, and bookings are open for the month of December 2013.
Verdict:
Toyota only seems to attempt at sticker manipulating job with its new Fortuner as most of the minor screws and engine mechanicals would remain the same as its predecessors. Hope there would be significant enhancement in performance, to justify the vehicle for its cost effectiveness.
