Japanese automaker Toyota has grand plans to reach out to a wider base of potential buyers in India and with this aim, Toyota is gearing up for a spate of car launches in the coming year. It is expected that the Japanese carmaker would be unveiling a minimum of two new products in the coming year in Indian markets. These two products would likely be the 2014 Toyota Corolla as well as the facelift version of the Fortuner SUV.
A few months ago, Toyota soft launched the facelift version of the Innova. As far as the changes in the new version of the Innova go, they are strictly cosmetic and all the mechanical specs have been retained from the outgoing version. The modifications to the new model of the Innova include a refurbished front-end bumper with copious chrome embellishments seen on the radiator grille, side molding, fog lamp surrounds while the rear of the Innova gets a chrome addition apart from the reflectors. However, the chrome additions are made available only on the Z and VX trims.
The interiors of the new Innova are almost the same. Toyota has faintly modified the multimedia system while the gear knob and doors sport a faux wood finish. The seats flaunt stunning a two-tone design. Toyota is having high hopes with the refurbished Innova in terms of sales volumes.
The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado’s face-lifted version is also launched in India. Toyota Kirloskar Motors, the Indian arm of the Japanese automaker, unveiled the latest edition of this plush SUV which comes at a price tag of Rs. 84. 87 lakhs (ex-showroom New Delhi price).
The Land Cruiser Prado comes in five exciting colors- Black, Dark Blue Metallic, Grey Metallic, Silver Metallic and White Pearl Crystal Shine. Toyota has given a major facelift to the Prado. The facelift version of this luxuriant land cruiser features a redesigned bumper, grille, LED headlamps, fog lamps, daytime running lights, rear combination lamp as well as a license plate embellishment at the rear.
Additionally, this luxury SUV from Toyota is also armed with the crawl control feature that helps the driver to control braking and accelerating on substandard surfaces. There is also a multi-terrain selector for different terrains as well as a monitor to offer a crystal clear view of the environs. The 3.0-litre engine delivers a peak power output of 173 bhp and comes mated with a 5-speed gearbox transmission which is also seen in the outgoing editions of this high-end SUV.
Toyota also launches the latest Corolla in Indian market. The new Corolla will be seen with redesigned tail lamps, LED headlights as well as refurbished alloy wheels. The new Corolla is bigger as far as dimensions go as compared to its previous versions. The new Corolla also sports most striking and prominent lines. It also comes with an enhance wheelbase of nearly 75 mm and boasts of roomy interiors. The cabin of the new Corolla features a restyled instrument cluster, dashboard and plush upholstery.
