Things that Toyota should do to make its FT-1 Sports car a real success

The Japanese car major Toyota is all prepared to attract the world’s attention with ravishing cars rather than playing safe with conservative designing. As the world’s car consumers are increasingly becoming keen on possessing head turning cars, the most reliable and competent Toyota cars are being criticized for their plain looks. In order to hold on to its leading position in the immensely competitive global auto market, Toyota is thus determined to change its styling language and offer gorgeously designed cars to charm the young audience.

After achieving great appreciation for the evolutionary design in the all new Corolla sedan, Toyota has again created a huge wave of interest by unveiling its FT-1 Sports car concept at the ongoing 2014 Detroit Motor Show.

As the FT-1 concept grabs the limelight at the auto show, here are some things that Toyota must do to make the concept’s production version really successful in the actual market.

Toyota’s FT-1 seems to have everything that a capable sports car needs to have to be a market success; a cool swanky design and a bold face and flowing lines. What Toyota needs to do now, is to give it a cool name as well. Naming it the all new Supra will certainly be a good choice considering its heritage.

Next, the FT-1’s production version is surely expected to get a premium price tag and that should be to compete with its rivals in the market such as the Nissan GTR and Corvette Z06. However, Toyota has to make the FT-1’s pricing competitive in order to win over its rivals. If it is tagged between the ranges of $60 to 80K, then it’ll have the upper hand in the competition.

Then again, Toyota has to have an aggressive marketing strategy for the FT-1. A thrilling and adrenalin gushing TV commercial is what a racy sports car needs to garb the eyeballs of the consumers and leave a lasting impression on their minds. The right ad for a great product goes a long way to ensure the product’s success in the market, and Toyota has to churn up something really innovative and breathtaking, when it comes to the FT-1’s advertisement.

To ensure the FT-1’s success, Toyota will do well if it sells the car under its own brand name that is Toyota. It is a simple but powerful detail. The Scion is meant for low cost cars, and the Lexus is associated with expensiveness. The FT-1 should not be either of these brands but a cool and powerful Toyota sports car. The FT-1 should represent the best qualities of the world’s most favored auto maker, Toyota Motor and thus should bear a Toyota nameplate rather than any other brands from Toyota.

And the last but not the least thing; Toyota has to put the FT-1 into real time production. This is a vital point, as Toyota actually needs something like the FT-1 to happen and become a success to ensure its global leadership.
