It has been on record that the Japanese car manufacturer Toyota’s Etios & the Etios Liva have been a success in India. Both these cars were launched back to back a few years ago. They are selling in good numbers. In September 2013, Toyota launched the Xclusive edition of the Etios and Etios Liva in India.
The deputy managing director and chief operating officer, marketing and commercial, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), Sandeep Singh, said that Etios and Etios Liva have been appreciated for their quality, performance, space and low cost of ownership, a package that every Indian customer looks for. He also added that the new vehicles will offer an exclusive ownership experience and newness to the product.
Now, the Toyota Etios Xclusive edition is available in two engine variants- petrol and diesel. The petrol variant is known as theToyota Etios G Xclusive Edition. It comes with a 1.5 L petrol engine which cooks a max power of 88.8 bhp at 5600 rpm and generates 132 Nm of peak torque at 3000 rpm. The engine is a DOHC (Double Over Head Cam) 16 V unit. The mileage of the Toyota Etios G Xcluisve is said to be 13.5 kpl in city and on highways it would give around 16.78 kpl.
The diesel variant, known as the Toyota Etios GD Xclusive Edition, is a 1.4 L 8 valve D 4D diesel engine which produces a max power of 67.1 bhp at 3800 rpm and churns out a peak torque of 170 Nm at 1800 to 2400 rpm. The efficiency of the car is pretty good. It gives a mileage of 20.32 kpl and 23.59 kpl on city and highway respectively. Both the engine variants are mated to a manual gear box.
On the other hand, the Toyota Etios Liva Xclusive Edition is also available in diesel and petrol engine variants. The Toyoto Etios Liva G Xclusive Edition features a 1.2 L 16 V DOHC petrol engine producing 78.9 bhp of max power at 5600 rpm and a peak torque of 104 Nm at 3100 rpm. Whereas the Toyota Etios Liva GD Xclusive Edition sports the same diesel engine which power up the Toyota Etios GD Xclusive Edition.
As far as the looks are concerned, both the new Xcluisvie editions looks quite similar to the other models of the Etios and Etios Liva. What makes them stand out of the crowd is the Xclusive badge and a few shades of new colours on them. The interiors of the Xclusives have some new features like a new stylish instrument cluster and dual tone interiors along with more space for storage like the more number of bottle and cup holders. Other features includes a cooled glove box facility, internally adjustable outside rear view mirrors, etc.
The new Xclusive Editions of the Toyota Etios and Etios Liva are a pleasant offer by the company for its customers and since it is the end of the 2013 calendar, Toyota will get some boost in its sales figures with the Xclusive Editions.
