Toyota Motor, the world’s most selling auto maker is trying hard to change its conservative styling attitude to engage the modern car consumers and to cater to their rising demands of highly stylish cars without compromising on the quality. The Japanese car major’s highly durable, safe and convenient legendary car models are slowly losing their charm for the trendy global customers who look for high style quotient in their new car buys. Toyota is thus eager to change its styling strategy and put on a bold and stunning name for itself to appeal to the young and fashionable generation of car buyers. The first step in this direction has come in the form of the all new 11th generation model of the Corolla sedan.
The 2014 all new Corolla has already gained a lot of appreciation for its much bolder evolutionary design language in the global car markets. The all new Corolla or Corolla Altis as it is known in different markets has now become more contemporary and stylish. Toyota has done a good job especially on its front fascia that looks stunning with great stylish headlights, aggressive front grill and fog lights. The entire new Corolla also looks sleeker owing to the bold cuts and creases running down its body, though it has grown in size.
Now, to increase the Corolla Altis’ oomph factor, Toyota has launched a new sporty variant of the sedan known as the Altis ESport in the car market of Thailand. The Altis ESport’s ‘E’ represents Excellence.
As for the Indian market, Toyota has commenced the official pre-launch bookings for the new Corolla Altis. The company could bring in the ESport to India as well depending on the consumers’ response to the regular variants of the new Corolla once it hits the market.
The Corolla Altis ESport is definitely a sportier variant of the sedan that looks fully loaded and has a gorgeous demeanor. The variant is more appealing and bolder only when its looks are concerned and does not offer more power. However, Toyota has tweaked its suspension for a stiffer ride.
The Altis ESport is essentially a fully loaded, more endowed variant of the high-end model trim of the sedan. The ESport comes with aerodynamic fins and an underbody diffuser that adds to its sporty looks. It features an exclusive front grille with a “Gun Metallic” strip for more aggressive look, LED projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, an aero body kit, LED tail lights with “Surface Illumination” and new 17 inch alloy wheels.
The cabin gets an all black premium leather upholstery, heavily padded front seats, 4 way adjustable steering wheel with mounted audio controls, advanced audio system with 6-speaker, a “jack-knife” key and auto air conditioning system.
The powertrains remain the same under the hood with a 1,798 cc 4-cylinder engine that delivers 141PS of power and 18.05kgm of torque and mated to a 7 speed CVT.
The Corolla Altis ESport is priced at 899,000 baht (equivalent to Rs. 17.09 lakhs).
